Delhi govt’s Punjabi Academy to publish a booklet on Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 3 languages to celebrate his 550th birth anniversary

The booklet will be published in Punjabi, Hindi and English; will contain teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji through various illustrations


In a first of its kind initiative, the Art, Culture & Language Department’s Punjabi Academy of the Delhi government under the leadership of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Mr Manish Sisodia is coming up with a booklet on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on the occasion of his 550th birth anniversary.. The Delhi govt will publish the book in three languages which are Punjabi, Hindi and English.

“In today’s world when there is the talk of a clash of civilisation, hatred among religions is growing to a great extent. Discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and colour is still prevailing in the society. Shir Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teaching are more relevant in today’s modern world and it can pave the way for a peaceful and just world. I hope that this book would serve the purpose and the society will be benefited at larger,” said Hon’ble Deputy CM Mr Manish Sisodia.

Mr Sisodia also said, “ Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji preached the new way of truthful, spiritual life but at the same time did not shield away from challenging the state and emperors for the wrongdoings. Through his teachings, Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji had become so popular among both Hindus and Muslims that they both claimed Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji to be one of them.”

The book will contain the teachings and the messages of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji with colourful illustrations and stories. The 35 pages booklet will also describe the life of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji and the people will get the devotion and the message of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji by reading the booklet. In small chapters in the way of stories, the book has explained the messages of brotherhood, equality, diversity and love.

The Delhi govt took the decision to publish the story in three languages so that the message of the book reaches to the people from across the community.

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji (29 November 1469 – 22 September 1539) was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. His birth is celebrated worldwide as Guru Nanak Gurpurab on Kartik Pooranmashi, the full-moon day in the month of Katak, October–November. This year is his 550th birth anniversary and the Delhi govt has planned a number of cultural programs to celebrate the auspicious day.

She Guru Nanak Dev ji travelled far and wide teaching people the message of one God who dwells in every one of his creations and constitutes the eternal Truth. He set up a unique spiritual, social, and political platform based on equality, fraternal love, goodness, and virtue
