Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Shri Sanjeev Jha said that the Yogi government is preparing to turn Uttar Pradesh into a city of alcohol. Permission has been granted to openly sell alcohol at Railway stations, Metro stations, and Bus stands. If there is a liquor shop within 100 square feet, then a bar can be constructed within a 20-meter radius. This means people can openly make others drink alcohol in their shops. The potential nature of crimes if alcohol is openly served cannot be estimated. According to the new alcohol policy, one can build a bar at home by paying a fee of ₹12,000. While the ‘Sanatan Dharma’ says there should be a temple in the corners of a house, CM Yogi Ji suggests building bars in the corners of homes. MLA Sanjeev Jha said that the public voted for Yogi Ji thinking their children would receive good education, health facilities, and employment. Instead, they are providing tetra packs of alcohol to the youth. Uttar Pradesh’s new alcohol policy clearly shows the difference between the BJP government’s words and actions.
AAP’s Senior leader and Burari MLA Shri Sanjeev Jha addressed a press conference on an important issue at the party headquarters on Saturday. MLA Sanjeev Jha stated, “On one hand, preparations are being made to establish the statue of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and on the other hand, preparations are underway to make the same state the capital of alcohol. The Excise policy of UP has come up. It indicates that alcohol can be sold at railway stations, metro stations, and bus stands. Previously, there have been incidents of alcohol consumption on trains and buses, and if open alcohol sales happen there, it cannot be estimated what kind of crimes might occur. It is also being mentioned that alcohol will now be sold in tetra packs.”
The AAP MLA from Burari said that according to this alcohol policy if you have a liquor shop within 100 square feet, you can build a bar within a 20-meter radius. This means you can serve alcohol in your shop. Wherever there are liquor shops, there is also hooliganism due to alcohol consumption. If they start serving alcohol near liquor shops, it cannot be estimated what kind of crimes might occur. The limit was crossed when it was said that you can also build a bar in your home. They are saying that by paying ₹12,000, you can serve alcohol to people in your home. The Sanatan Dharma says there should be a temple in the corners of a house, but Yogi Ji is saying to build bars in the corners of homes. I want to know how suddenly Yogi Ji fell in love with alcohol.
MLA Shri Sanjeev Jha shared, “A country or state progresses when you improve education and healthcare. Mohalla Clinics are being established in every colony in Delhi, and schools are being fixed, but Yogi Ji is saying there should be liquor stores at every intersection. I want to tell Yogi Ji that the people of Uttar Pradesh voted for you thinking their children would receive good education and healthcare, and the youth would get employment. Instead, you are giving every youth tetra packs of alcohol. This shows the vast difference between the promises and actions of the BJP. It is CM Yogi Ji’s responsibility that UP should not be considered a city of alcohol. Just as the Delhi government of the AAP is working on education and healthcare in various places, if you open Mohalla Clinics instead of liquor shops and bars at metro and railway stations, people will receive proper treatment.”
