Expanded Reach & Legalisation of Piped Water Network
The free life line water served as a major incentive for consumers who did not have a water meter to get one in order to avail the subsidy. As a result, more than 5 lakh new households now have water connections.
- The number of functional water meters has increased from 8.57 lakh in 2015 to 14.67 lakh by end-2019 – a 71% increase.
- The number of unmetered connections has come down from 3.29 lakh in 2015 to 1.58 lakh by 2019 – a 52% decrease.

- As of 17th Mar 2021, the network of pipeline water supply has grown to 14,935 kms and now covers 93 percent of all households.
- As of 7th Feb 2021, 1,622 unauthorised colonies have been covered in the network of pipeline water supply. Water supply to all 1799 unauthorised colonies will be ensured in a phased manner.
- 579 unauthorised colonies have been connected to Water pipelines in just the 5 years from 2015 to 2019. (Note: Only 290 unauthorised colonies got water lines in the period 2002-2014.)
