Top development economists from MIT and Co-founders of globally acclaimed Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), Dr Abhijit Banerjee and Dr Esther Duflo, addressed all the top officials of Delhi government today on how rigorous evidence can inform better policy design and outcomes. The meeting was attended by the Deputy CM, Chief Secretary, Planning and Finance Secretary, among others.
The lectures were organised as part of Delhi government’s initiative to strengthen Monitoring and Evaluation within the government so as to ensure high policy impact. This is the second initiative taken by Delhi govt this year after launching a historic ‘Outcome Budget’ that promises Delhi residents specific, measurable outcomes from implementation of all major schemes and programmes.

He said “We need high quality evidence now, to take decisions now, to positively impact the lives of our citizens now.”
