Due to the hatred filled mentality of the Bharatiya Janata Party towards Dalits, Delhi could not get a Dalit mayor on Friday. To prevent the son of Dalit community from sitting on the mayor’s chair, the BJP conspired to cancel the election of MCD mayor through the Lieutenant Governor. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh, along with AAP’s Lok Sabha candidate from East Delhi, Shri Kuldeep Kumar, lashed out at the BJP for their prejudice against the reserved communities of the society and said that even after 75 years of independence, the BJP wants to do the politics of discrimination and hatred in the country. The BJP wants to take away the constitutional rights given to these communities by abolishing Baba Saheb’s constitution and by ending reservation.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Friday, Shri Sanjay Singh stated that today, I am reminded of the historical incidents where people inspired by the same mentality and ideology as the BJP and their organisation used to ‘purify’ the seat that Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar used to sit on, by sprinkling Gangajal (Holy water from the Ganges) on it. People with discriminatory and hatred mentality inspired by the BJP used to prevent the Dalits from drinking water from the pond, from sitting on cots and chairs. They had made a constitution which prescribed that if the verses of Veda reach the ears of the Dalit, then molten lead should be poured in his ears. Today, even after 75 years, people of the same mentality are still alive in this country. I would like to appeal to the Dalits of this country, to the backward class people, to the tribal people, to those who have faith in democracy and Constitution, to be careful. These people want to take away the rights of Dalits and all the other reserved communities, he said.
The Constitution of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar gives us the right that in Delhi, once in 5 years a Dalit son will also sit on the mayor’s chair. But these BJP people of anti-Dalit mentality are still living with the same disgusting mentality. Today, the BJP has also seized that constitutional right in Delhi. They are now saying that a Dalit’s son will not sit on the mayor’s chair. If this happens, then that chair will become unholy. For this, the BJP has prepared their pawn, the Lieutenant Governor. The BJP’s LG has said that we cannot appoint the Presiding Officer without consulting the Chief Minister. This is the statement of BJP’s LG, remember it, he stated.
“Now let me take you back a year when the Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal had recommended the name of the seniormost AAP councillor Shri Mukesh Goel as the presiding officer for the MCD mayoral poll. The LG blatantly dismissed his suggestion and nominated BJP councillor Ms. Satya Sharma as the presiding officer. This proves that my allegations that the BJP is anti-Dalit and opposers of Baba Saheb’s Constitution, and they have made their LG lie. This not a small lie; this is as false as calling day as night,” said the Rajya Sabha MP.
Showing a letter, Shri Sanjay Singh stated how Ms. Satya Sharma was appointed as the presiding officer without consulting the Chief Minister and by rejecting his suggestion. Rebuking the BJP, he said that you had done the same thing in Chandigarh. When the son of a sweeper was going to sit on the mayor’s chair, these BJP people tore his votes, manipulated his votes, and stopped him from becoming the mayor. People belonging to the Dalit and Tribal community, backward class, underprivileged or exploited communities of the country will never forget this. You are filled with so much of hatred that even today you prevent them from entering the temples. Even today in Gujarat, if a Dalit’s son picks a ball, his thumb is cut off. Even today, the Dalit MP in Karnataka, of the BJP itself, cannot enter in the village for an inauguration, he was denied entry in his own constituency.
“Even today, the BJP people are trying to finish the reservation for Dalits and backward classes in the entire country. Various prominent BJP leaders, including Shri Mohan Bhagwat and Shri Manmohan Vaidya, have repeatedly said that reservation should end. The BJP has always voiced against reservation. Their mentality is that Dalits have no rights in this country,” he said.
Going back to the letters he stated that the BJP people must respond to these letters, when the BJP councillor Ms. Satya Sharma was made the Presiding Officer without the advice of the Chief Minister. So, on what basis are the Mayoral elections being cancelled in Delhi? Just so that a Dalit’s son could not sit on the chair? Is there so much hatred in your hearts? questioned the Rajya Sabha MP.
Not only this, the LG even nominated 10 BJP volunteers as councillors last time, we will also show you the proof for that. Showing the list of the 10 BJP councillors, he lashed out at the LG and said now he must answer how he had nominated 10 BJP volunteers are councillors by going against the recommendation of the Chief Minister. Not just that, the LG also went ahead and gave these councillors the right to vote. The matter went to the Supreme Court which declared that the nominees do not have voting rights. Even today, the matter of appointment of councillors is pending in the court, due to which the current standing committee elections have not been held.
“That is why I am repeating the same thing today, that Delhi and the entire country is witness to how the BJP is trying to abolish Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s Constitution and implement Bhagwat’s (RSS) Constitution in India. They want to take away the rights of Dalits, tribals, underprivileged, and the exploited communities, and finish the reservation for these communities. The BJP wants to end elections in the country. They have already disintegrated and toppled 6-7 state governments. Chandigarh and Surat are prime examples of this (machinations of the BJP). Now, they have cancelled the Mayoral elections in Delhi because they knew that our victory was certain. A Dalit’s son would have certainly won the elections because we even had the Congress’ support, we had a huge majority,” said Shri Sanjay Singh.
Questioning the BJP and the LG, the Rajya Sabha MP said that after the Chief Minister’s arrest, various ministers sent the files directly to the LG, and the LG gave them approval. Tell me is this true or not, I challenge you. Here you surpassed the ministers and came up with a lie which was exposed in front of the country.
Shri Sanjay Singh also appealed to the public to vote today as it is the second phase of elections. I would like to appeal with all my might, today is the second phase of elections, come out of your houses, vote to save your rights, vote to save reservation, vote to save Baba Saheb’s Constitution, vote to save democracy.
He further said that Shri Kuldeep Kumar is AAP’s candidate from East Delhi and the party has fielded him from a general seat, to send the son of a Dalit community to the Parliament, the supreme legislative body of India. He reiterated that the BJP’s mentality of hatred against the Dalits, tribals, underprivileged, exploited, and their efforts to finish reservation is now in front of the entire country. They have so much of hatred against these communities that even the President Smt. Droupadi Murmu was not invited to the inauguration of the new Parliament building. This prejudice of the BJP against these communities will be exposed by the AAP and they will have to answer, he concluded.
AAP Lok Sabha Candidate from East Delhi constituency, Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that it is unfortunate that even after so many years of independence, if any party is working with anti-Dalit mentality, then it is the Bharatiya Janata Party. Even though Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar gave rights to the Dalits and backward classes in the Constitution, but the dictatorial BJP-led central government is not allowing them to exercise those rights. Even though Baba Saheb has given the right in the Constitution for the Dalits to become mayor once in five years, the BJP will not allow them to become mayor. They would use pawns like the LG to fulfil their motives.
By stopping the mayoral election in Delhi today, it is clear that the BJP does not want the son of Dalit community to become the mayor, which shows that BJP is working with anti-Dalit and anti-backward mentality. The BJP opposes reservation and wants to end it and their prominent leaders have repeatedly said so. Today the mayoral election was stopped through the LG. The son of a Dalit community was about to become mayor. The Aam Aadmi Party had absolute majority. When the Election Commission has given permission to conduct elections, then who is the LG to stop the election? This is only happening at the behest of the BJP, who is using the LG as their pawn.
The AAP candidate from East Delhi constituency stated that the BJP did not invite the President of India (Smt. Droupadi Murmu) to the inauguration of the Parliament only because she comes from a tribal community and is a woman. The BJP is anti-tribal and anti-women party, that is why she was not invited. Former President Shri Ramnath Kovind was also not invited because he was a Dalit. As per their sick mentality, if the BJP had called him, the temple would have been defiled, it would have become unholy or untouchable, this is why they didn’t invite him. The whole country saw how a BJP leader urinated on the face of a Dalit person in Madhya Pradesh. In various BJP ruled states, Dalits are killed for having moustaches. In Hathras, UP, the body of a Dalit daughter is burnt at night and the body is not given to her family. The BJP stands with those who rape Dalit daughters.
Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that the BJP, suffering from Dalit mentality, has worked to stop the mayoral election. On one hand, Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party give opportunity to the children of Dalits to enter politics. On the other hand, the BJP would go to any extent to stop the people of Dalit community from entering politics. The BJP is not even giving reservation in central government jobs and is trying to enter IAS and PCS through the backdoor. The BJP is working to abolish reservation in universities to arrange admissions through the backdoor.
The AAP Lok Sabha candidate said if the BJP comes to power in 2024, it will work to change Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s Constitution. The BJP will work to end reservation for Dalits and women. Under the BJP conspiracy, the LG has stopped a person from Dalit community from becoming the mayor. The Dalits and backward class people of the country will answer this in the Lok Sabha elections by ousting the BJP from power, which is working to change the Constitution of the country, he concluded.
