In a fervent display of opposition to authoritarianism, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Cabinet Minister, Ms. Atishi, convened a ‘Sankalp Sabha’ in Trilokpuri on Thursday, as part of the ‘Jail ka Jawab Vote Se’ campaign. The meeting, held in solidarity with INDIA Alliance candidate Shri Kuldeep Kumar for the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, saw attendees vow to reject dictatorship at the polls on May 25th. Atishi denounced BJP’s decade-long deceit and ‘jumlas’ (hollow promises), rallying Delhiites to deliver a resounding reply at the ballot box.
She said that in 2014, the people of the country voted for BJP. They voted thinking that inflation will reduce, and youth will get employment. 5 years passed and in 2019, people again voted for BJP thinking that if they give them 5 more years, maybe they will be able to do some work in that. But 10 years have passed, but there has been no change in the life of the common man. All the promises of BJP turned out to be lies and jumlabaazi.
The Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister, Ms. Atishi, stated that in 2014, the people of the country voted for BJP thinking that inflation will be reduced and youth will get employment. 5 years passed and in 2019, people again voted for BJP thinking that if we give them 5 more years, maybe they will be able to do some work in that. People across the country again voted for BJP with great expectations. People thought that maybe their lives will improve, their children will get good education and inflation will be reduced but 10 years have passed for the BJP’s, Narendra Modi’s government and all their promises have turned out to be ‘jumlas’. There has been no change in the life of the common people.
The Senior AAP Leader further added that the BJP had given the slogan ‘Bahut hui mehangai ki war, abki baar Modi Sarkar’ (Enough of inflation, this time Modi government) but in ten years, instead of decreasing, inflation increased further. Today, it has become difficult for the common people to run their household expenses with the amount they earn. The price of a gas cylinder has increased from ₹300 to ₹1,200, the price of diesel has increased from ₹55 to ₹90, the price of petrol has increased to ₹100. In the last 10 years, everything has become expensive. In such a situation, this time the public will give an answer to the increased inflation.
BJP had given another slogan, ‘Bahut hui berojgari ki maar, abki baar Modi Sarkar’ (enough unemployment, this time Modi government). But unemployment has not decreased in the last 10 years. Rather it has increased more. Today unemployment is at its peak. Modi ji used to talk about India becoming ‘Vishwaguru’ (World Leader) – he has made India ‘Vishwaguru’ in the matter of inflation and unemployment.
“These people (BJP) had promised to end corruption and deposit ₹15 lakh in people’s accounts. But that too turned out to be a ‘Jumla’. All their promises turned out to be a ‘Jumla’. BJP has shown in its 10 years that it has no intention of fulfilling any of its promises. Whether it is reducing inflation or ending unemployment, BJP has failed on every front. BJP’s report card of 10 years has been zero. BJP has shown in 10 years that they only know how to give ‘Jumlas’ and not how to keep promises. That is why BJP is afraid of Shri Arvind Kejriwal because he fulfilled all the promises he made,” Ms. Atishi affirmed.
The Senior AAP Leader mentioned that in 10 years, on one hand, PM Narendra Modi did not reduce inflation, unemployment, while on the other hand, Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal gave free electricity, free water, free health facilities, Mohalla Clinics, built excellent schools and hospitals, gave free world class education to children, gave free bus travel to women, fulfilled the dream of the elderly to go on pilgrimage by arranging free pilgrimages. When you go to vote in this election, remember who is the man who changed their lives, who worked to improve the lives of the common people of Delhi and was sent to jail. We have to remember that when we needed him, Shri Arvind Kejriwal stood with us. That is why today when Shri Arvind Kejriwal needs us, the whole of Delhi stands with him.
“In the last 10 years, BJP MPs have not solved even a single problem of East Delhi. To hide its failure, BJP has been changing its candidate here in every election. But this time, the people of East Delhi will not elect a useless and ‘jumlabaaz’ party but will elect an MP from the working party ‘AAP’ and will send Shri Kuldeep Kumar to the Parliament. On May 25, the people of Delhi will use the power of their vote to end dictatorship and strengthen democracy,” Ms. Atishi affirmed.
