AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh hit out at the Modi Government for mentally harassing Shri Manish Sisodia in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He added that it was extremely shameful that a person who has done so much for the nation was being treated like this in CBI custody. He also accused the BJP government-led CBI of forcing the AAP Senior Leader to sign on a document in which arbitrary charges against him by the agency had been filed.
Referring to the incident in the Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday, where the lawyer representing Shri Manish Sisodia pointed out that his client was being forced to sign on a piece of document and being mentally harassed for refusing to do so, Shri Sanjay Singh asked how the CBI can force an accused to do such a thing.
He said that it was extremely shameful that a person who is responsible for educating more than 18 lakh children in Delhi and improving their future prospects is today being mentally harassed by the agencies of the Central Government. The ‘Education Model’ of the Delhi Government is being appreciated all over the country. When the former First Lady of the United States of America, Mrs Melania Trump, came to visit India in February 2020, she came and visited a school in Delhi. He added that she could have gone to any other school in the country, but she insisted on visiting a school run by the Delhi Government.
Pointing to the incident that took place in court on Saturday, he hoped that the judiciary would look into the matter and rap the CBI for indulging in such activities. Elaborating on the matter, he said that if one looks at it in a holistic manner, then in the first charge sheet that the CBI filed, nowhere did it show anyone claiming that Shri Manish Sisodia was involved in any sort of wrongdoing and no giving or taking of money was claimed by any of the witnesses in the case. He further added that in the second charge sheet also there was no case made against Shri Manish Sisodia.
He added that after this, the Central Government put pressure on the CBI to in one way or another name Shri Manish Sisodia and in whatever manner, legal or illegal, file a case against him. He said that it was only after this, that the AAP senior leader was arrested by the CBI last Sunday.
He pointed out that the CBI and other central agencies raided the former Dy CM multiple times – his house, office, ancestral village, bank locker – were all searched at some point or the other, with some instances of raids lasting for up to 14 hours, however, no money or money trail against Shri Manish Sisodia could be established. He added that some BJP leaders say that the scam is of Rs 1000 crore, some even say Rs 10,000 crore and some claim amounts up to Rs 20,000 crore. The fact that they are still unsure of the amount to allege makes it clear that there is no scam and all of these figures are just a figment of imagination.
Shri Sanjay Singh slammed the agencies for not filing cases against the true culprits in the country and said that recently the son of a BJP MLA in Karnataka was caught taking a bribe and Rs 8 crore was found in his house, but he is not being probed by the CBI, ED or the IT department. He further pointed out that leaders who earlier had several cases filed against them suddenly turned out to be ‘clean’ after joining the BJP and gave the example of Shri Mukul Roy, Shri Suvendu Adhikari and Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma. He gave more examples of leaders such as Shivraj Singh Chouhan (involved in Vyapam scam), BS Yediyurappa (mining scam) and Shri Ajit Pawar (irrigation scam) and revealed that just because they are in the BJP no action is being taken against them by the agencies.
He concluded by saying that the entire country is witness to what is happening to Shri Manish Sisodia and the citizens of India will fight back against this dictatorship of PM Shri Narendra Modi. “Everyone in India is aware how a popular education minister of Delhi who has worked to improve the lives of 18 lakh children in the national capital has been arrested by the BJP-led Central Government and it is now trying to force him to accept that he is a criminal. When the right time comes, the citizens of Delhi and of the rest of the country will fight back against the BJP and show the party its real place.”
