The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has achieved resounding success in the recently concluded municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh, demonstrating the fervent desire for change among the people. According to AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh, the party’s outstanding performance reflects the growing support for its transformative agenda. He also informed that AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal will visit Uttar Pradesh in the near future to express gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the public. The municipal elections witnessed remarkable victories for AAP in Uttar Pradesh, securing four Nagar Palika Chairman seats, seven Nagar Panchayat Chairman seats, and approximately 100 ward member seats. Acknowledging these achievements, Shri Sanjay Singh stated that this resounding victory clearly demonstrates that the people of Uttar Pradesh have endorsed Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s model and have entrusted AAP with their aspirations for a better future. Looking ahead, AAP is committed to expanding its organisation in Uttar Pradesh, fostering a strong presence throughout the state.
Shri Sanjay Singh addressed the media during a press conference on Sunday to discuss the party’s remarkable performance in UP. Reaffirming AAP’s commitment to governance based on tangible results, he said that AAP’s impressive performance in the UP civic polls shows that politics can be driven by meaningful work.
Highlighting the groundbreaking achievement, Shri Sanjay Singh acknowledged the exceptional leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, stating, “The caravan of Aam Aadmi Party, under the astute guidance of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, has been sweeping across the entire country.” The senior AAP leader acknowledged that the party’s previous attempts in Uttar Pradesh faced challenges in garnering public support, but went on to note that this time, the results of the civic body elections have been nothing short of inspiring, exciting, and spectacular, marking AAP’s resounding entry into Uttar Pradesh.
He asserted that the people of Uttar Pradesh have expressed their unwavering support for the politics of change by overwhelmingly endorsing AAP candidates. Throughout the election campaign, AAP focused on discussing tangible accomplishments such as the Delhi model, highlighting the transformative work of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal in critical areas such as education, healthcare, electricity, water, and free pilgrimage. Additionally, the exemplary governance of the Bhagwant Mann-led government in Punjab was also a topic of discussion. The Aam Aadmi Party’s campaign centred around a politics devoid of communal hatred, or caste-based politics but instead focused solely on our accomplishments and vision for progress.
Shri Sanjay Singh emphasised the crucial significance of these civic body elections in Uttar Pradesh, where the chairman is directly elected by the public, rather than through the councillors or House members. This unique democratic process further underlines the importance of AAP’s endorsement by the electorate in UP.
He said, “AAP crossed 100 seats in the UP civic body polls, which is a notable milestone. The Aam Aadmi Party’s remarkable success extends to numerous Nagar Panchayats and Nagar Palika Parishads across the state, where supported candidates clinched the chairman and corporator positions. The election results exemplify the growing influence and popularity of AAP in Uttar Pradesh. AAP’s sweeping success in various regions of Uttar Pradesh, like Bijnor, Aligarh, Moradabad, Amroha, Ayodhya, and Kaushambi, demonstrates the broad-based appeal of the party’s vision.”
In Rampur Nagar Palika, the bastion of the Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan for 20 years, AAP’s candidate Sana Mamoon created history by securing victory with a substantial margin of 11,000 votes. Another impressive victory was secured on the Kemri seat in Rampur by Rafat Jahan, with a margin of 6,000 votes. AAP’s Shri Anoop Singh Patel won the post of chairman from Kaushambi Sarai Akeel by 1800 votes. It is worth noting that Kaushambi is the ward of Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. AAP candidate Shri Sanjay Sharma has won the election of chairman in Aligarh’s Khair Municipal Council by 2000 votes.
In the Barsana Nagar Panchayat elections, AAP’s Ms. Vijay Singh won. AAP’s youth leader, Faisal Warsi, has become the chairman of Bijnor Seohara Nagar Palika Parishad. Haji Akram Qureshi won the election from the Shahpur seat in Muzaffarnagar. AAP leader Mohammad Yakub won the election for the post of chairman in Pakbada Nagar Panchayat of Moradabad district. Sonu Kinnar, one of AAP’s supported candidates, won the chairman election from PDDU Nagar in Mughalsarai. In several Nagar Panchayats, our supported candidates emerged victorious in the chairman elections. Along with this, the Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate, Zubair Ahmed, won the election of chairman from Zoya Nagar Panchayat of Amroha.
Shri Sanjay Singh expressed his gratitude and said that the UP results reveal the people’s endorsement of the policies, programs, promises, and guarantees put forth by Shri Arvind Kejriwal. He noted that the sheer number of chairman and corporator seats won by AAP in Uttar Pradesh signifies a remarkable shift in the political landscape.

In fact, AAP secured more votes and seats in the UP civil polls than the 125-year-old national party, INC (Congress). On Sunday, a crucial meeting was helmed by AAP National Convener Shri Arvind Kejriwal to discuss and strategise for the future. Addressing sceptics who questioned the relevance of AAP in Uttar Pradesh, Shri Sanjay Singh shared, “People asked us why we brought AAP’s election campaign to Uttar Pradesh, where it was believed that votes would be cast solely on the basis of caste and religion. We were told not to waste our energy here.
