Sarita Singh is the incumbent President of the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) and an MLA from Rohtash Nagar, Delhi. She won the election after securing over 62,000 votes and and with a margin of over 7,000 votes. A prominent women leader of the party, she has been at the forefront in raising several issues related to women and students.
Sarita has been a student leader in the Delhi University and was a crucial member of the Jan Lokpal Movement and then subsequently of the Aam Aadmi Party. Her rise in politics from being a volunteer of the anti-corruption movement to an elected member of the Assembly is an inspiring story. Despite not having the resources to contest the election in 2015, she was able to win the support of her constituents through sheer hard work and determination.
