Prof Baljinder Kaur is a member of the National Executive of AAP and President of the party’s women’s wing in Punjab. After being associated with the India Against Corruption Movement, she joined the Aam Aadmi Party and contested the 2017 Punjab Elections from the Talwandi Sabo constituency of Punjab where she registered electoral victory with a margin of 19,293 votes.
Prior to joining politics, Baljinder was a lecturer of English at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib.
I always wanted to do something for the cause of people, especially women. You can see women hardly get opportunities in politics as there is no level playing field
As an MLA she has focused on improving the state of education in Punjab and her constituency. She has also worked towards reducing farmer suicides and helping farmers get better price for their agricultural produce. In addition to that, she aims on improving the state of healthcare in Talwandi Sabo.
India is a democracy and the only people who can bring about change is the “Aam Aadmi”, says Kaur, “and my party and I will leave no stone unturned to make the country corruption free.”
