Successful Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri scholarship scheme medical girl student meets social welfare Minister
Ø A labourer’s daughter qualifies NEET for MBBS admission to Lady Hardinge Medical College
Ø She undertook coaching at Sachdeva New PT College under the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana scheme
This year a total of 107 students took coaching from the Sachdeva New PT College under this scheme
A Delhi government school girl student from a poor family, who availed the government’s free Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana and qualified the NEET this year to be selected for MBBS in the Lady Hardinge Medical College, met the Social Welfare Minister, Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam on Wednesday.
Shashi had passed the class XII Board examination from the Rajkiya Sarvodya Kanya Vidyalaya, GTB Nagar.
Her father works as a labourer and her mother is a housewife. Shashi is the eldest among the three siblings. She had earlier appeared in the 2017 NEET exam, but was not successful.
Shashi said previously it was not possible for her to avail private coaching due to her family’s financial condition, but she was determined to pursue her favourite academic stream.
This year, she got to know about the Delhi government’s free coaching scheme for Dalit students, the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana, and this scheme changed her life.
Congratulating Shashi, the Social Welfare Minister, Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana is ensuring that poverty will no longer be a handicap for poor students. Chief Minister is fulfilling the dream of Baba Saheb Ambedkar by ensuring medical education for a labourer’s daughter.”
Shashi took coaching from Sachdeva New PT College, for four months under under the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana.
This year a total of 107 students took coaching from the Sachdeva New PT College under this scheme. Stipend of Rs 10,000 rupees helped her to get the books. Shashi aspires to an Oncologist.
Shri Gautam said he is happy with the Engineering and medical stream results so far and is waiting for the results of other competitive examination.
