Rs. 1 crore ex-gratia for police personnel killed in the line of duty
On 20th April 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced ₹1-crore ex gratia for the families of Punjab Police personnel who are killed in the line of duty. He also announced to enhance the police welfare fund from ₹10 crore to ₹15 crore from 2022-23 onwards.
Virtually addressing over 23,000 cops of all ranks, the chief minister directed them to adopt zero tolerance towards gangsters, drugs, terrorism, illegal mining and corruption.
While assuring the police personnel that there will be no interference in their department’s functioning, CM Bhagwant Mann exhorted them to perform their duties with professionalism, dedication and integrity, and make the Punjab Police one of the best forces in the country.
Enhancing ex-Gratia to martyrs’ kin to Rs. 1 Cr from Rs. 50 Lakh
On 18th May 2022, Punjab cabinet which met under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in another significant decision gave approval to enhance rates of ex-gratia grant to families of martyred soldiers from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
Rs. 25 lakh compensation to bereaved farmers’ families
On 21st May 2022, former Health Minister Dr. Vijay Singla gave Rs 25 lakh compensation to families of five farmers who lost their life in farmers’ agitation.
Rs. 2 lakh compensation for accident victim’s family
- Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep anguish & sorrow over the tragic road accident at Mahilan Chowk in Sangrur which claimed the life of a girl student besides leaving 3 others injured. CM announces financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for victim family and free treatment for injured.
- In another incident, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs. 2 lakh to the family of a child who died after falling into a borewell. The CM also expressed his condolences.
