AAP senior leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak on Wednesday said that it is an unfortunate day for a democratic system that at a time when the Election Commission has announced by-polls, the BJP-ruled North MCD has suspended AAP councilors for raising issues in the public interest. The Election Commission has announced 28th February as the date for the by-polls, on which Shri Pathak said that these by-elections will be fought on two issues – how BJP has ruined Delhi and turned the capital of India into a pile of garbage, and how the BJP has looted the MCD and corrupted the MCD in the last 15 years. He said that the way the BJP in the MCD has ruined the lives of the people of Delhi has prompted the people to uproot the power of the BJP from the MCD. AAP welcomes these by-elections and the people of Delhi will take revenge for the shame they have to bear because of garbage all around them, and the people of Delhi will vote BJP out of power, he added.
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Today, it is a very unfortunate day for democracy. On one hand, the Election Commission has decided to announce a date for the by-poll elections for 5 seats in Delhi. On the other hand, when our councilors demanded answers regarding why BJP in the North MCD has ruined Delhi in the last 15 years, the BJP suspended all our councilors instead of answering our questions. Nothing could be more unfortunate for a democratic system like ours, that representatives who have been elected by the public are suspended just because they are asking questions related to the public interest. I want to tell the BJP leaders – if you think that we will be scared after this suspension, you are mistaken. Every volunteer and worker of AAP, we are always ready to fight in the interest of the public.”
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “The Election Commission has announced 28th January as the date for the by-polls. The people of Delhi thank the EC and welcome its decision. The way the BJP in the MCD has ruined the lives of the people of Delhi has prompted the people of Delhi to uproot the power of the BJP from the MCD. This election will be fought on two issues – first, Delhi is the capital of the country, PM Modi and revered diplomats of the world live in Delhi. If Mr. Borris Johnson would have come, he would have visited Delhi, Mr. Joe Biden would visit Delhi whenever he comes to India. Similarly, public representatives from across the world visit Delhi, and when they do, they discover piles of garbage in every nook and corner of the city. BJP has shamed the people of Delhi, which will be the first issue on which these elections will be contested.”
Shri Durgesh Pathak then showed a picture of piles of garbage accumulated alongside the residence of BJP Delhi chief Adesh Gupta. He slammed the BJP and said, “When they cannot clean the lane where their chief resides, how will they clean the rest of the Delhi? This is very unfortunate.” Shri Durgesh Pathak also released a banner that read, ‘BJP-shaasit MCD ne Dilli ko Kiya kuda-kuda, BJP MCD chorho’.
“A few days back, PM Modi conducted a cleanliness survey of 48 cities across the country. Delhi, unfortunately, is in the 47th position in the survey. Even the PM believes and admits that the BJP has ruined the whole of Delhi through the medium of the MCD,” he said.
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “The second issue will be how the BJP leaders have looted the MCD and emptied it from inside. The elections will also be fought on the corruption done by the BJP. Time and again, we have told how the BJP has looted the MCD. We have exposed their corruption with full proofs and documentation. You have witnessed their scam of Rs 2500 crores, how they looted the salaries of the MCD employees, Rs 100 crores scam in Dengue medicine, Rs 1400 crore scam in house tax collection, Rs 18 crores scam from the money given by AAP for the cow fodder. They have done a scam of Rs 180 crores in the installation of the huge machines for the three garbage mountains in Delhi. When a young person like me wants to construct a house with my lifelong savings, the BJP councilor collects money as a bribe, as you all must have seen in the case of a BJP councilor from Vasant Kunj who was caught taking Rs 10 lakhs as a bribe by the BJP a few days back. On one hand, the BJP has turned Delhi into a pile of garbage, and on the other hand, it has looted the MCD.”
“We welcome these by-elections and the people of Delhi will take revenge for the shame they have to bear because of piles of garbage around them. The people of Delhi will vote BJP out of power from the MCD and send them back to their homes,” he added
