Impressed by the policies of Aam Aadmi Party National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, renowned social worker from Lucknow, Smt Soumya Bhatt, joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday. She was welcomed into the party by AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh who presented her with the traditional topi and patka at the party headquarters. Speaking at the occasion, Smt Soumya Bhatt said that she was joining the Aam Aadmi Party after being influenced by the revolutionary changes that are taking place in Delhi through the social welfare schemes of the Kejriwal Government. She also said that she was incredibly impressed by the unprecedented work being done in the field of education under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal.
Shri Sanjay Singh welcomed her into the party and said that it was a happy occasion as a person who is a well-known social worker and maintains a relationship with educational institutions in Lucknow, was today joining the Aam Aadmi Party family. Smt Soumya Bhatt heads Maya Foundation, which has been doing a lot of work in the field of education and environment. She has completed her BSc and LLB from the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University and also runs a law firm.
Explaining her reasons for joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Smt Soumya Bhat said, “I am extremely impressed with the schemes for public welfare that are being implemented by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Government throughout Delhi, and the unprecedented revolution in the field of education. On joining the Aam Aadmi Party, I thank the party’s national convener Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The movement that the Aam Aadmi Party started in 2011 not only gave a new direction to Indian politics but also a new perspective. After the movement in 2011, people became aware of honesty, hard work, and development in politics. Today, the result of the same is in front of the country. The Aam Aadmi Party is serving the public in Delhi and Punjab under the leadership of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. I assure you that I will work with complete dedication for the hopes of the party and the people of the state,” she said.
Smt Soumya Bhatt, a resident of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, comes from a family of lawyers. Her late mother, Smt Maya Bhatt, was a renowned government lawyer who dedicated nearly 45 years of her life to serving various parts of India, including Uttar Pradesh. She served as a government advocate in the Lucknow High Court for almost 18 years. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Smt Soumya Bhatt established a social organisation in Lucknow seven years ago with the aim of strengthening the social and justice system. The organisation provides education and healthcare services to underprivileged women and children, and free legal aid to victimised women. Additionally, it works towards providing employment opportunities for youth in the country.
