Amidst Delhi’s escalating water crisis, Cabinet Ministers Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj and Ms. Atishi met the Lieutenant Governor (LG) at his residence to resolve the issue at the earliest. The Chief Secretary, CEO of Delhi Jal Board Anbarasu, Principal Secretary to LG Ashish Kundra, Secretary to LG Surendra, and Press Secretary to LG Abhijit Ray were also present in the meeting. Answering queries about the meeting, Senior AAP Leader and Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized LG’s office for issuing a misleading press release that distorts the facts discussed in their meeting. Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj condemned the release as a cheap attempt to misrepresent the situation and pointed out LG and BJP’s politics over the water issue.
Senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the discussion that took place in the meeting and the two points with which the meeting ended, the LG himself said that this meeting is ending on these two points, he said that you also go out and say the same two things and we will also say the same two things. “But it is very unfortunate that the press release that has come from the LG’s office, is misleading. Being a minister, I am saying with full responsibility, that the press release that has been issued from the office of the LG is a press release that misrepresents the facts of the conversation held in the meeting.
“When I and Atishi reached the residence of the LG for the meeting, the Governor had installed three cameras there to record the meeting. The LG should release the entire recording publicly so that the public can know the truth. I say with guarantee that The LG will not release that video at any cost,” he added.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj mentioned, “I am saying this with a challenge that the LG will not make that recording public in front of the public. Because if he does so, the public will know the real intention of the Lieutenant Governor. The LG not releasing that video verifies that the press release issued from the office of the LG is based only and only on lies and is a misleading press release. If this video is released then the people of Delhi will know who is responsible for the water problem in Delhi. If that video is made public then the conspiracy of the LG and the BJP will be exposed.”
The Delhi Minister shared, “We had also requested the LG during the meeting that the video recording of this meeting should be made public so that the public can also know what was discussed in the meeting regarding the water problem of the people of Delhi. We also requested the LG to invite the media for the meeting next time so that the truth can reach the public. When we were going to the LG’s house for the meeting, the police personnel deployed there asked us to deposit our phones outside.”
“When we protested against this, the police stopped us from entering and after a lot of debate, we were allowed to take the phone inside. When we complained about this to the LG during the meeting, the LG also apologized to us for this and all these things are captured in that video recording. Perhaps the LG was afraid that we might record that meeting on our phone and present his truth to the public,” Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj concluded.
