Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Cabinet Minister Ms. Atishi held a ‘Sankalp Sabha’ (resolution meeting) at Krishna Market in New Kondli on Monday under the ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ campaign. In a meeting held in support of Shri Kuldeep Kumar, the INDIA alliance candidate from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, people pledged to answer the arrest of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal by voting on May 25.
On this occasion, Ms. Atishi said that governments come and go, parties come, and parties go, leaders come, and leaders go, but there is no change or improvement in the life of a common man. She said that till 10 years ago, when salary used to come on the 1st of every month, every woman used to think that how will the household expenses be managed with so little money? And when all the money was exhausted by the 25th, they wondered how they would spend the next 5 days.
She said but 9 years ago, a person came to power in Delhi who changed the lives of all Delhiites. There was a time when electricity was expensive in Delhi that people had to reduce their remaining expenses to pay the bill, yet there were power cuts for hours. And now electricity is available 24 hours a day, the electricity bill is zero. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has made this possible.
Ms. Atishi said that 10 years ago government schools were in dilapidated condition. There was an overwhelming smell of toilet upon entering the schools. There were no desks for children to sit, no black boards in the classrooms. Schools used to run in tents. A family that had little money, thought of transferring their child from a government school and sending him to a private school so that his future could improve. But in just 9 years, the schools of Delhi were transformed. Today, Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s government schools leave behind any private school in Delhi. Where there were tented schools earlier, there are magnificent 4-storey schools now.
The AAP senior leader said that today, when a child from a poor family comes to a government school, he dreams not of becoming a mechanic but of becoming a great engineer and fulfills it. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has done the work of giving this good future to the children of Delhi in government schools. Today, for the first time in the history of the country, the poorest of the poor children studying in government schools are taking admission in IITs and big medical colleges.
Ms. Atishi said that Shri Arvind Kejriwal made bus travel free for women in Delhi. Earlier, daughters used to hesitate in going far away to college, many working women thought that a significant part of the salary goes on bus fare. It is Shri Arvind Kejriwal who made DTC bus travel in Delhi free for his mothers and sisters. This is Arvind Kejriwal’s government.
The AAP senior leader said he gave Mohalla Clinics to Delhi, where medicines are free, tests are also free, treatment is also free. Shri Arvind Kejriwal, becoming the Shravan Kumar of the modern era, made the elderly people of Delhi go on a free pilgrimage.
She said that whether it is free electricity, water, excellent schools, Mohalla clinics, free bus travel, free pilgrimage for the elderly, if any person has made it happen for the first time in this country, it is Shri Arvind Kejriwal. And this is the reason why today he has been put in jail by the BJP led central government on false allegations.
Ms. Atishi said that it is said that Shri Arvind Kejriwal has committed corruption. But the people of Delhi know that the man who puts money in his pocket does not provide good government schools, does not provide free bus rides to women, does not provide free electricity and water, does not provide good health facilities, does not make the elderly go on pilgrimage somewhere. Shri Arvind Kejriwal has worked to improve the lives of the people of Delhi.
Ms. Atishi said that the BJP is afraid of this. There are so many states where the BJP has been ruling for a long time but they could not do good work like Shri Arvind Kejriwal in their states, hence they arrested him. But what the BJP people do not know is that for the people of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal is not just their Chief Minister, for the people of Delhi, he is their son, their brother. People of Delhi love Shri Arvind Kejriwal.
The senior AAP leader said that, in this election, the people of Delhi have made up their mind that they will answer the arrest of their son and their brother through their votes. This time on May 25, when the people of Delhi will cast their vote, they will not vote for any party or candidate but to take revenge for putting their son, their brother, Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail.
The people of Delhi will reply to the BJP that they can put Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail but cannot remove him from the hearts of the people of Delhi because he lives in the hearts of the people of Delhi. On this 25th May, the public will respond to the BJP’s dictatorship, atrocities, and false allegations with their votes, she concluded.
