 The Minister of Health, Govt. of Delhi,  Shri Satyendar Jain, congratulating the faculty members, Doctors and Para-medical Staff of M.A.I.D.S on completion of its’ 35 years of existence and achieving No. 1 rank in the country, exhorted them today, to strive for achieving no. 1 rank at Global level now. Shri Jain was speaking while presiding over the “DELHI SMILES” – DENTAL HEALTH UTSAV, 2018 organised by the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) in the capital.

He said that his priority is to upgrade Public Health Services and extend the better Healthcare Services to the citizens in the capital by giving special focus and requesting govt. to allocate and avail major share of budget. He wished that if the people of Delhi are provided with better healthcare, they will become healthy, descent and self dependent citizens, who can ensure all-around development and progress of the society and the country.

Shri Jain said that for achieving better goals and progress, the “game of file- file playing” should be stopped. Only then you can ensure better results and achieve the better goal. He said that Delhi Govt. will develop four more such MAIDS making total number of five and 100 Dental Clinics in Delhi to serve and provide better health care facilities to the people.

Speaker Delhi Assembly, Shri Ram Niwas Goel inaugurated the “DELHI SMILES” – DENTAL HEALTH UTSAV, 2018 by cutting the ribbon and lighting the lamp.

He also released a postal stamp brought out by the Department of Post and Telegraph, Govt. of India, commemorating 35 years of excellence in Dental healthcare in India, MAIDS in the presence of Chief Post Master General, Delhi Circle, Shri. Dushyant Mudgil.

Shri Goel congratulated the principal, faculty members, Doctors and Para- medical staff of the Dental Institute for achieving No. 1 rank in the country and for providing better health care to the people. Shri Goel said that it is really appreciable that the institute has provided health services to about 135000 people in the last year. He said that gone are the days when the dentists used to use the Pelas(Jumara) to uproot  the aching tooth. Now the science has progressed enormously and dentists donot need a Pelas.

Shri Goel also inaugurated and exhibition “Healthy Mouth Healthy Body” displaying with innovative exhibits and demonstrations for the public in the institute.

In appreciation towards this immense contribution and providing meritorious services in patient care and quality dental education, all Nine dental specialties of the Institute were awarded. The Heads of various departments received this award on behalf of the Faculty, Staff and Students of the Department. Shri Jain gave away the prises and commendations to the Heads of Departments as under:

  2. Dr.Sujata Mohanty- Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
  3. Dr.Mahesh Verma/Dr.Sadhana Mathe- Prosthodontics
  4. Dr.Sangita Talwar- Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
  5. Dr.Tulika Tripathy- Orthodontics
  6. Dr.Mridula Goswami
  7. Dr.Arundeep Kaur Lamba- Periodontics
  8. Dr.Aaditya Urs- Oral Pathology
  9. Dr.Vikrant Mohanty- Public Health Dentistry

Secretary, Health & FW, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, Director of MAIDS, Dr. Mahesh Verma , Lt. Gen. S. M. Londhe, Col comdt. Army Dental Corps and Dr. Sanjay Tyagi, Deen, MAMC were also present on this occasion.
