Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh has raised serious questions on the intentions of the ED that opposed the overseas visit of its approver Sarath Reddy on the ground that if allowed to go abroad, Sarath Reddy will flee the country and then he will not come to give statement against Kejriwal.
Addressing the media here today, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said I have already told you through many press conferences and by placing many evidence in front of you, how witnesses were coerced to testify against the Chief Minister of Delhi. And I have also told you that out of 456 witnesses, only 4 witnesses mentioned the name of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, and under what circumstances they did so. Ten statements that were taken from father-Son duo, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy and Raghava Reddy, 8 of them were made ‘unrelied upon documents’. As soon as the father-son duo in their statements mentioned the name of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Raghava Reddy got bail, he added.
Shri Sanjay Singh said the person named Sarath Reddy, who gave a bribe of ₹60 crore to the BJP, whom ED itself called a ‘kingpin’ of this alleged scam, did not take the name of Shri Arvind Kejriwal in 10 out of 12 statements. In the last two statements, when he took the name of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Sarath not only got the bail but was also pardoned in May 2023. The interesting thing is that ED opposes its approver Sarath Reddy’s foreign visit on the ground that he may not return to India to support the case. “ED’s government witness Sarath Reddy, whom ED first calls the ‘kingpin’, then makes him approver and who gets pardon and also gives a bribe of ₹60 crore to the BJP. When Sarath Reddy approaches court that I have to travel abroad for my company’s work, I should be given permission to go abroad, the ED opposes it. This is the major news published in an English daily newspaper today. ED says that he is not joining our investigation. If you allow him to go abroad, he will run away, he will not come to give a statement against Shri Arvind Kejriwal. You arrested a Chief Minister and put him in jail, the government witness who got your pardon, on whose statement you arrested the Chief Minister, you are opposing the foreign travel of the same government witness and saying that he is not coming to join the investigation. How will he come when you have made him write a false statement, then why will he join your investigation and even if he joins, what proof will he give against Kejriwal ji when he does not have any proof,” reasoned the senior AAP leader.
The Rajya Sabha MP said I think the Supreme Court, during its hearing, should take this matter into cognizance as to how a fabricated, baseless case was created. “Your approver, whom you (ED) got pardoned from the court, while opposing his foreign travel, you tell the court that if he is allowed to go abroad, he will never come back to give a statement against Shri Arvind Kejriwal. He (Sarath Reddy) does not come when we (ED) summon him through email or call him, this is what the ED officials themselves say in front of the court while opposing his foreign travel,” he said.
Shri Sanjay Singh said the government witness who gets pardoned from ED, does not come to join the investigation when he is called by ED. “You people (journalists) can understand the secret behind this very well. Why? Because a false and baseless statement was taken from him and now he (Sarath Reddy) feels that the ED is calling him and will ask for a lot more proof, and he does not have any proof. So, the ED is saying that he will run away and will not come to give a statement against Shri Arvind Kejriwal. So, a couple of more false testimonies that ED could take from him, will not be possible,” he said.
Urging the journalists to investigate the matter, the Rajya Sabha MP said, “You must also investigate how the accused is made an approver and the investigating agency itself says that it does not trust the approver.”
