Deputy Chief Minister & Education Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia today inaugurated the 63rd national School Games in Swimming & Diving at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex(Talkatora Stadium), Mother Teresa Cresent Marg, New Delhi.

Sports branch, Directorate of Education is organising this mega sports event from 25th November to 29th November 2017. This mega event included total 25 games and this sport events will culminate on 9thDecember.

In these games, 1831 players and 290 coaches and managers from 33 states / UTs are participating.  These games are being organised in the age category of Under 14 yrs.; Under 17 yrs. and Under 19 yrs. (Boys & Girls).

Opening the ceremony, Shri Sisodia said, “For the first time, the games are being organised at an international sports facility.  For the first time, The Government of NCT of Delhi has made arrangements of boarding and lodging of the players and officials in the hotels. Breakfast and Dinner is being provided at the hotel whereas lunch and evening snacks are being provided at the competition venue itself.  Necessary transportation arrangements have been made to pick the players and officials from the Railway Stations; bus terminals, airports etc.

Shri Sisodia blessed the participants on this occasion.

Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary (Education) was also present on this occasion.  Sh. Sushil Kumar, OSD (Sports) & renowned Olympian Wrestler welcomed all the participants and officials.  Mrs. Asha Aggarwal, Dy. Director of Education (Sports) gave a vote of thanks on this occasion.

Similar arrangements have also been made to take the players and officials from hotels to the competition venue and back to the hotels.”

The students will compete for 5 days in these games for 103 events.
