On the directions of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj on Tuesday met the family members of Corona warrior late Shri Mohan Singh Negi, who lost his life due to COVID-19 while on duty during the Corona pandemic. During this visit, the Health Minister handed over a check of one crore rupees on behalf of the Kejriwal government to the family of the late Corona Warrior.

The late Shri Mohan Singh Negi, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, was working as an Operation Theater Assistant at Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital. Unfortunately, while serving the public on duty, he caught COVID-19 and subsequently passed away on 2 May 2021. The Health Minister remarked that even though the ex-gratia amount may not be able to compensate for the loss caused to the family, yet he hoped that with this financial help, the family members will receive some help in improving their future and living conditions.

During this visit, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj met the family members of the late Corona Warrior, consoled them and assured them of all possible help by the Kejriwal government in the future. The Health Minister added that late Shri Mohan Singh Negi devoted nearly 32 years of his life to the service of the people and his retirement was to be in 2028. “No price can be put on their lives, but this Samman Rashi is a way for the Kejriwal government to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the corona warriors.”, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj stated.

The late Shri Mohan Singh Negi is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.

The Kejriwal government has provided financial assistance of one crore rupees each to the families of many Corona warriors of Delhi who lost their lives due to Covid while serving the public during the pandemic. Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said that amid the Covid-19 pandemic, doctors, nurses and staff worked round the clock to treat patients, staying away from their relatives, to serve the public. Many Corona warriors even put their lives at stake while serving humanity and society. “We heartily salute their hard work and their spirit to fight the war against the pandemic. We will never forget the sacrifice of Corona warriors. The Kejriwal government will always stand by this family in every sorrow and every crisis. I pray to God that the souls of the corona warriors rest in peace.”, the Minister said.
