We are delighted to share with you the latest update on our efforts to make Delhi a world-class city with efficient and sustainable transportation options. The Delhi Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been working relentlessly towards this goal, and we are proud to announce our newest initiative, the Mohalla Bus Service.
The Mohalla Bus Service is a unique and innovative concept aimed at improving last-mile connectivity for the residents of Delhi, especially those residing in congested areas. We understand that the lack of affordable and efficient transportation is a significant challenge for the people of Delhi, and we are committed to addressing this issue through the Mohalla Bus Service.
The scheme is based on a short-route, high-frequency model that will enable commuters to reach their destinations quickly and easily. We have conducted a route rationalization study to determine the best possible routes, taking into account factors such as traffic patterns, population density, and commuter demand. Additionally, we have consulted with national and international experts from South Korea, Colombia, and the United States to learn from their experiences in implementing similar schemes in their respective countries.
We are proud to announce that the Mohalla Bus Service will use electric small and medium-sized buses, making it an environmentally friendly initiative that will help reduce air pollution in the city. We are committed to making Delhi a greener city, and this is one step towards achieving that goal.
Apart from the Mohalla Bus Service, the Delhi Government has taken several other initiatives to improve mobility in the city. One such initiative is the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy, which offers incentives to those who purchase electric vehicles, thereby promoting the use of cleaner modes of transportation. We have also installed around 3 lakh streetlights across the city, making the streets safer and more accessible to the residents of Delhi. Additionally, we have constructed new flyovers and introduced the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which has been instrumental in reducing traffic congestion in the city.
We are confident that with the introduction of the Mohalla Bus Service and the integration of different transport modes, we will make Delhi one of the top 10 cities in the world for public transportation. Our aim is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to the residents of Delhi, and we believe that the Mohalla Bus Service is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
