The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) kicked off its ‘Jail ka Jawab Vote se’ initiative with a resounding call to action in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Led by AAP Delhi State Convenor, Shri Gopal Rai, the gathering witnessed fervent pledges from the attendees to oust the authoritarian Modi government through the power of the ballot. Addressing the assembly, Shri Gopal Rai highlighted the BJP’s apprehension, stating that the party understands that if Shri Arvind Kejriwal remained free, the INDIA Alliance would sweep all seven seats in Delhi, endangering BJP’s security deposits. Shri Gopal Rai underscored Kejriwal’s transformative governance, citing initiatives like free electricity, water, top-notch education and healthcare, women’s travel concessions, and now, a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 for every woman. The incarceration of Delhi’s beloved Chief Minister by the Modi government was condemned as a grave disrespect to the people’s choice. Shri Gopal Rai urged the public not to remain silent, emphasizing that the time is ripe to stand firmly behind Arvind Kejriwal and collectively respond to this injustice with the power of votes.
AAP Delhi State Convenor and Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai held “Jail ka jawab vote se” ‘Sankalp Sabha’ in Trilokpuri, East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, on Tuesday. During this, he said that the Lok Sabha elections have been announced and the first phase of voting is on April 19. The Model Code of Conduct has been implemented, and Delhi’s popular Chief Minister has been arrested. The BJP-led central government has put Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail adopting dictatorial tactics. The BJP supporters claim that Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been corrupt, so he was arrested. When honesty is discussed in the entire country’s politics, people only consider Shri Arvind Kejriwal as the ideal of honesty.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor continued, “There is rampant corruption in the country. The BJP folks used to accuse Ajit Pawar of corruption every day. The BJP made him the Deputy Chief Minister. The BJP accused Ashok Chavan of the ‘Adarsh Scam’, he became a Rajya Sabha MP. The father of corruption accused Raghava Reddy, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, got a Lok Sabha ticket from BJP’s ally party. They accused Himanta Biswa Sarma of corruption first then he became the Chief Minister of Assam. BJP people, who used to roam around with the names of big corrupt politicians in the country, today all those corrupt politicians are roaming in Modi Ji’s bullet train and the staunchly honest Chief Minister of the country, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, is in jail.”
“This is the first time in the history of India that a Chief Minister has been jailed during the elections. Today, the people of Delhi are asking BJP what is the fault of Shri Arvind Kejriwal? Has any accusation been proven, has any FIR been filed? The BJP has kept Shri Manish Sisodia in jail for 1.5 years. BJP’s ED-CBI has raided thousands of places, but no corruption of a rupee has been found,” he added.
“The BJP knows that if Shri Arvind Kejriwal were to be outside, the INDIA Alliance will win all seven seats in Delhi and their security deposits will be forfeited. That’s why they put him in jail. The people of Delhi gave BJP MPs a chance to work for 10 years, but they did nothing. That’s why BJP had to cut the tickets of 6 out of 7 MPs. The BJP should tell, if their MPs had worked, why were their tickets cut? Meanwhile, Shri Arvind Kejriwal worked tirelessly for Delhiites. Shri Arvind Kejriwal made electricity, water, women’s bus travel, and pilgrimage trips free in Delhi. He built good schools and hospitals. Shri Arvind Kejriwal passed the budget to give every woman in Delhi a monthly honorarium of ₹1,000. The incompetent BJP MPs have been bid farewell and Shri Arvind Kejriwal is in jail today,” Shri Gopal Rai mentioned.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor shared that Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Smt. Sunita Kejriwal, is not being allowed to meet him face to face. The Modi government is crossing all limits of tyranny. Shri Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Minister of the entire Delhi public. If the government continues to insult him in this way, how long will you remain silent and endure? Shri Arvind Kejriwal has worked for the people of Delhi, today is the time to stand with Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We have the power of votes. When we go to protest, we are arrested. MLAs and councilors are not allowed to leave their homes. Baba Saheb Ambedkar knew this, that’s why he gave everyone the right to vote in the Constitution. If BJP is arrogant with the power of authority, then we have the right of power of vote. We will not tolerate this insult and will respond to jail with votes.

During this time, the INDIA Alliance Lok Sabha candidate from East Delhi, Shri Kuldeep Kumar, said that BJP has put CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail to stop AAP’s campaign. The Chief Minister whom people gave overwhelming mandates in Delhi in 2015 and 2020, and then also chose the AAP in the MCD, but BJP, out of fear, put him in jail. Putting an elected Chief Minister in jail in this way is an insult to every Delhiite. “The people of the area know me well. I have grown up playing in these streets. I know every alley of Joshi Colony. If you want to take revenge for Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s jail, then you have to press the ‘jhadu’ button on May 25, so that your popular Chief Minister can come out of jail. By pressing the button, you will have to tell BJP that if you put our Chief Minister in jail, the people of Delhi will not tolerate it. This election is not ordinary anymore. Since Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been put in jail, this election has become a matter of the heart for the people of Delhi. Victory will be of the people of Delhi. Whenever you call me, I will stand among you. On one side are those who want to change Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s constitution and snatch your rights, and on the other side are the AAP and Shri Arvind Kejriwal who want to fully implement Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s constitution in the country,” he added.

At the appeal of Shri Gopal Rai, people standing in the ‘Sankalp Sabha’ lit the light of their mobile phones and took an oath that “today I swear that I will make every possible effort to remove the dictatorship being carried out by the BJP government in the country and to save the Constitution and democracy. The authoritarian Modi government has insulted our beloved CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, who has announced free electricity, water, excellent education-healthcare, bus travel for women, pilgrimage for the elderly, and now a ₹1,000 honorarium for women in Delhi. We will not tolerate this insult and will respond to jail with votes on May 25.”
