It was a family reunion for the Aam Aadmi Party when its national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with senior leaders of the party and its MLAs on Sunday. This was their first meeting after the release of the AAP supremo from jail.
MP Sanjay Singh’s eyes became moist after hearing the treatment meted out to an elected Chief Minister in jail. All the MLAs became emotional and took a pledge saying that we all are one family. We will neither break nor bow down. Now we will work with renewed zeal.
At the meeting, Shri Arvind Kejriwal praised the unity of the MLAs and said that after I went to jail, the Aam Aadmi Party has become stronger. All the MLAs did excellent work to ensure that the people of Delhi did not face any problem in getting electricity, water and medicines. He said the BJP tried to break you people to topple our government, but its plan failed. You did not break. For this the entire party and country are feeling proud of you.
During the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, the MLAs informed Shri Arvind Kejriwal about the incidents that happened during the last one-and-a-half months. The CM was informed about the free services and development works being provided by the Delhi Government to the people of Delhi. On the feedback received from the people of Delhi, the CM expressed happiness that even in his absence, all the MLAs have done excellent work in their respective areas.
During the meeting, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Smt. Sunita Kejriwal, AAP’s National General Secretary Organization Dr. Sandeep Pathak, MP Shri Sanjay Singh; ministers Shri Gopal Rai, Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, Ms. Atishi, Shri Kailash Gahlot, Lok Sabha candidates of the party and all the MLAs were present.
Addressing the party MLAs and other senior AAP leaders at the meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said it feels great to meet you after so many days. And the Supreme Court order that came the day before yesterday, I think it was no less than a miracle. Due to the incidents that have happened in the last one-and-a-half months, I feel that God is trying to get us to do something. And whatever is happening, we are just instruments, God is doing everything. I kept getting to know about you people inside the jail and kept talking to the staff there. They gave me information about every MLA. So, you guys were doing very good work in my absence. My only worry was that if due to my incarceration, work in Delhi stopped; supply of medicines in hospitals, electricity, water got disrupted, then they (BJP) would get a chance to blame it on us and in the middle of the elections, we will somehow lose the narrative. But you all did a very good job. You kept everything in order in your area. Whenever these people used to come _ Atishi, Sunita (Kejriwal), Saurabh Bhardwaj, Bhagwant Maan _ I would discuss with them whether the whole system is working fine in Delhi or not, added Shri Arvind Kejriwal.
The AAP National Convenor said you guys said it right, their whole plan was that when the BJP people used to meet before the arrest, they used to say that now they will arrest me, after arresting me they will break our party, topple the government in Delhi. Then in Punjab, by any means, they will poach your MLAs and take Bhagwant Mann with them. And I don’t know what kind of story they had woven for this whole thing and exactly the opposite happened. “After my arrest, our party became more united; instead of breaking apart, neither could they topple our government, nor could they poach our MLAs, nor could they dent our Punjab government. Their entire plan failed,” he said.
The Delhi Chief Minister said on the contrary, the entire political narrative that existed in the country went against them (BJP). You people deserve compliments for this. I came to know that these people tried to contact many of you, these people tried to break you, by luring and threatening you in various ways. “I kept checking with you individually as to who was being contacted, but no one broke away, you all remained strong. For this, both the party and the country feel proud of you people. People find it hard to believe that what kind of party is this, no one is breaking them. It was heard from many places that one candidate from Indore left before the elections, another from Surat also left before the elections and this is our party which has been going on for 12 years, but no one is leaving it. Doesn’t go anywhere. Tried everything on them, even the threat of ED doesn’t work on them. So, it is the result of your strength that we are standing today, and we have to remain strong in the future also,” he said.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said I have come out for 21 days and have to go back again on June 2, so after that you people have to keep the party safe because I think only the Aam Aadmi Party can give the future to this country. “The people of the country have tried all the other parties and today this is the condition of the country. The Aam Aadmi Party whenever it got a chance, it has been only two years since the government was formed in Punjab, within two years it has done such a good job. In Delhi, it is because of the work we did, people like us today. Whatever media people show in their bytes from people on the streets, people say Kejriwal is doing such a good job, why did they put him in jail. There is discussion about our work. So, in the coming future, only the Aam Aadmi Party will have to take charge of the country; in the coming future only the Aam Aadmi Party will give the future to the country and that is why they are scared. If you move forward so fast, you will have to face some trouble,” he said.
After Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, AAP family moved forward strongly and narrative of elections changed in entire country: Saurabh Bharadwaj
Talking to media person after the meeting, senior AAP leader Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said that after the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, four big leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, viz., Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh were in jail. There were speculations that the Aam Aadmi Party would break, and the Delhi government would fall. The Chief Minister and MLAs said that the people who stay together in bad times is the biggest thing; in good times everyone stays together. During the meeting, Sanjay Singh said that he did not know anything about what the arguments in his bail hearing would be, what would be the legal strategy. During that time the Chief Minister himself managed everything. He (Sanjay Sing) remained in jail for six months, but his family was not allowed to face any hardship. Sanjay Singh also became emotional while saying this. Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said the meeting took place in a family atmosphere. If there is no head of the family then fights start between the brothers, but our family did not break. There were no fights in our family, rather people moved forward with more strength and unity and after the arrest of Kejriwal, the narrative of the entire country’s elections changed.
AAP has fought this dictatorship like a family and now after arrival of Kejriwal ji, we will defeat this dictatorship: Atishi
Ms. Atishi said that all the MLAs expressed their happiness and that of the people of entire Delhi on the release of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. One thing that came out in the meeting was that the BJP tried its best to break the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, but it failed. Rather, after the arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party has become stronger. The entire party has emerged as a strong family. After Kejriwal ji went to jail, the Aam Aadmi Party has fought this dictatorship together like a family. Now after the release of Arvind Kejriwal ji, we will defeat this dictatorship.
