With an aim to strengthen and make the public distribution system transparent in the national capital, Delhi Food and Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain on Thursday reviewed the distribution of free ration in Delhi under the National Food Security Act and One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme with the Special Commissioner and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) of the Food and Supplies Department.

During the meeting, the Minister of Food and Supplies Department was informed that the distribution of ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to the ration beneficiaries for the month of June 2024 has started from June 1 itself and till now about 87% of the ration quota has been distributed to the beneficiaries. Along with the ration beneficiaries under the NFSA, One Nation One Ration Card beneficiaries are also being distributed free ration under the eligibility for the month of June 2024.

Under the National Food Security Act 2013 in Delhi, 5 kg of foodgrains are provided every month through the Public Distribution System (PDS) to NFSA beneficiaries, which includes 3 kg wheat and 2 kg rice. At the same time, the regular eligibility under the
Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category is 20 kg wheat, 15 kg rice and 1 kg sugar per family. The public welfare government of Delhi is giving free ration to the NFSA beneficiaries of Delhi, including AAY beneficiaries as well as migrant ration card beneficiaries.

Shri Imran Hussain said that the Arvind Kejriwal government is committed to providing free ration to all the beneficiaries in a timely manner. The Food and Supply Department needs to make efforts to provide free ration to the eligible beneficiaries on time in a transparent manner. Public grievances related to the public distribution system need to be redressed timely and quickly. No eligible ration beneficiary in Delhi will be deprived of getting free ration, concluded the Food and Civil Supplies Minister.
