Some of the policy changes made by the AAP Punjab government include the regularising of contractual and temporary workforce, providing jobs to eminent sports persons, a one-time relaxation in Age Limit for Education Providers. It has also understood the importance of skilling.

“Our Government is aware of the critical role of skill development in improving employability. However, the gruesome reality paints a dim picture of our status quo.

As per the Human Development Report for the year 2020, barely one out of five Indians in the labour force is skilled. Furthermore, India Skills Report of 2022 paints a gloomy picture as far as Punjab is concerned.

This ought to be a wake-up call for Governments including ours, as lack of skill in youth jeopardizes our ability to realize the true potential of its demographic dividend.”

– Harpal Singh Cheema, Punjab Finance Minister in the Budget Speech 2022-20

Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann has also made efforts to rejuvenate the industry in Punjab by providing an environment that is conducive to growth and a business climate that is favourable for entrepreneurs and investors.

The first success story was the setting up of the country’s 2nd largest steel plant by Tata Steel, where work has already started in Ludhiana.

CM Bhagwant Mann and Invest Punjab delegation met Chairman & CEO Tata Sons in Mumbai in Jan 2023,

and  CEO & MD Tata Steel Ltd as well.
