The Kejriwal Government’s Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) will introduce new postgraduate courses in Bioinformatics and Cyber Security from this session. The move is aimed at providing wider exposure to students and expanding the university’s academic offerings. On Tuesday, Education Minister Ms. Atishi held a review meeting with the University officials and discussed the new courses to be introduced in the upcoming session 2023-24. The decision to introduce these courses is in line with the university’s policy of introducing new courses every year to keep its academic offerings in sync with industrial demands.
Last year, the university introduced Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Design and an MBA in Analytics that garnered positive responses from students across the country. The addition of Bioinformatics and Cyber Security to the list of courses will provide students with a wide range of options to choose from and gain expertise in new-age skills.
Speaking about the introduction of the new courses, Education Minister Ms. Atishi said, “We are committed to providing our students with the best quality education and exposure to the latest trends and practices in their respective fields. These new courses will help our students achieve their academic and professional goals.”
She added that the courses have been designed to provide the students with the latest knowledge and skills required in these dynamic and rapidly evolving fields. These courses will help students to excel in their careers and contribute to the growth and development of the nation. The Kejriwal government has always prioritized promoting innovation in the field of higher education, as it is the standards of the high education institutions of a country that determine its pace of progress.
The Bioinformatics course is designed to help students acquire skills in data analysis, biological data management, and computer programming. On the other hand, the Cyber Security course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to identify and prevent cyber threats and attacks.
During the review meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mahesh Verma said that the University’s adherence to high-quality standards has resulted in receiving an ‘A++’ grade from NAAC in its third cycle. The University is now planning for academic expansion by establishing a new campus and offering more in-demand courses. Over the past 5 years, GGSIPU has also set new standards in the field of research. The IP University faculty have published over 2500 papers in various indexed journals around the world.
It is worth noting that in addition to the aforementioned courses, the University also intends to introduce courses in Liberal Arts, Film Making, and Fire and Industrial Safety.
