AAP senior leader and Delhi Cabinet minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj has asked the BJP to issue a white paper on the functioning of its 7 MPs in Delhi in the last 10 years before seeking votes of the Delhiites in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a press conference, he said the BJP held a press conference with its 7 Lok Sabha candidates for Delhi and told what wonders its 7 candidates will do in 100 days if voted to power. But they didn’t tell that what 7 BJP candidates who remained in power for 10 years did for Delhi. BJP feels the Delhiites are stupid. I, on behalf of the AAP, have 7 questions for the BJP as to where were these 7 MPs in the last 10 years when the Delhiites needed them the most.
“In 2017-18, thousands of shops, showrooms and small businesses were shut, where were these MPs? All of us remember the incident in the Defence Colony when an old Sardar ji and his family were seen pleading with the MCD officials not to seal their shop. Despite that, the BJP ruled MCD and DDA sealed thousands of shops across Delhi, rendering lakhs of people jobless. Whether it was Defence Colony, Greater Kailash-I, Greater Kailash-II, South Extension or Rajinder Nagar, shops were sealed. “What did these 7 MPs of the BJP do to stop that they must tell the Delhiites?” asked Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj.
The Delhi Cabinet Minister said demolition is being carried out in Delhi, particularly in the recent times by the DDA and L&DO, railway and ASI to uproot poor people. In the last 1.5 years, nearly 3 lakh people have been rendered homeless. “Did even a single MP of the BJP stand up to stop the bulldozers that carried out demolition. No, they didn’t but our MLAs reached the demolition sites and fought with the authorities. They didn’t stop the bulldozers. Nearly 2.5 lakh people were made homeless at Tuglakabad, what did (Ramesh) Bidhuri ji, who comes from the same area do to stop that,” he said.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said It’s being said now that the traffic situation will be improved in Delhi. What did the BJP ruled central government do in the last 10 years in the direction under whom the traffic police come. You did nothing.
The senior AAP leader said my next question is that the Delhi police that comes under the Cntre has done nothing to improve the law and order in the last 10 years. On the new year, a girl is dragged under a car for 20 kilometres in Kanjhawla; in Delhi everyday double murder committed; in Tihar jail an inmate was stabbed brutally in front of CCTV camera and police; rape and murder are reported everyday; drugs being sold in Greater Kailash-II, CR Park. What did these MPs do improve the functioning of the police, he asked.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said when there was oxygen shortage in Delhi during Covid-19, did the BJP MPs get oxygen from the Centre when Delhiites were dying? “They didn’t ask for Delhi ‘s share from the Centre like the other states did,” he said.
The Delhi Cabinet Minister said in summers, Haryana stops water supply to Delhi and the quantity of ammonia in water increases too. “Did these MPs from Delhi ever take up the issue with the chief minister of Haryana or raise it in the Parliament?” he said.
The senior AAP leader said in the last some years, Delhi’s population increased manifold as people from various parts of the country migrate to Delhi. This has resulted in increase in water demand. “What did they do increase the supply of water in Delhi?” he asked.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said Delhi witnessed floods (last monsoon) due to the diversion of water at the Hathnikund barrage by Haryana government. Five gates of ITO barrage were jammed, did these MPs take up the matter with the Haryana government to avert it, he asked.
The Delhi Cabinet Minister said on behalf of the AAP, I ask the BJP’ to issue a white paper on what their 7 MPs did in the last 10 years for the people of Delhi and not to ask for votes by talking in a roundabout fashion.
