To remember the martyrs who laid down their lives to get India’s freedom, the Delhi government organized Friday Tiranga Utsav (a festival of tricolour) on Republic Day. General Administration Department Minister Shri Gopal Rai was the chief guest at the function, organised by the Freedom Fighters Cell of Delhi Government near Babarpur Bus Terminal. Wishing the people of Delhi and the country on Republic Day, he said that by organizing the Tricolor festival every year, we salute the martyrs of our country, who sacrificed their lives smilingly for the freedom of the country. During this time, efforts are made to awaken the spirit of patriotism among the people through cultural and theatrical programs. Also, we try to convey the message that we must live not only for our family but our country as well.
Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai said that the entire country is celebrating Republic Day on 26th January. “Every year we organize Eid Milan and Diwali Milan and Tiranga Utsav on 26th January in Babarpur Assembly. In the Tiranga Utsav, people of all religions and all communities come together to honour the tricolour and salute martyrs who sacrificed everything for this country.
He said that today, after 75 years, it is difficult for us to imagine that how all the people of this country came together and sacrificed their lives for freedom when our country was under subjugation. “How Hindu-Muslim women, men, tribals, Dalits and people from every corner of the country, speaking different languages joined hands and gave sacrifice for the freedom of this country. We remember those martyrs by organizing Tiranga Utsav,” said Shri Gopal Rai.
The minister said that through the Tiranga Utsav, we remember the freedom fighters through cultural programs and drama and try to awaken the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of the people. A large number of people participated in the Tiranga Utsav on Republic Day.
