Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Senior Leader and MLA Ms Atishi criticised the central government and its agencies for pursuing a witch hunt after the AAP. She said that the CBI has arrested Shri Manish Sisodia without any basis because there is pressure on it from the Prime Minister. Notably, even after raiding Shri Manish Sisodia multiple times CBI failed to find a single penny on him. Now, the PS of the former Deputy CM has been called in for interrogation by the CBI. Slamming the BJP, Ms Atishi said that the CBI-ED know that there is no scam, but they are under pressure from the BJP government to implicate AAP leaders-ministers.

Shri Manish Sisodia was sent to judicial custody a few days ago, after former minister Satyendar Jain, and the party’s communications incharge having already been arrested. Raids were conducted at their residences and offices, as well as across Delhi and the rest of the country by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED), but no evidence of corruption worth even one rupee was found.

Ms Atishi alleged that the PM Modi and BJP were pressuring these agencies to entrap and harass AAP members, ministers, and MLAs. She asserted that there was no legal basis for the actions taken by the CBI and that the agency had not been able to find any evidence against Shri Manish Sisodia, despite a year’s worth of investigation.

The MLA pointed out that if the CBI claims that there was a scam worth Rs. 10,000 crores, then surely they would have found at least Rs. 10,000 by now at Shri Manish Sisodia’s residence, but they have not found even a rupee. She stated that the entire case was one of political vendetta, with no evidence presented by either the CBI or ED.

Ms Atishi accused the BJP government of using pressure tactics to put AAP members, ministers, and MLAs behind bars, and warned that anything could happen due to this political vendetta. “There is absolutely no evidence that has been presented either by the ED or the CBI,” she said. Questioning the CBI, she further asked if even one rupee has been found after the raid on Shri Manish Sisodia’s residence, bank locker, ancestral village, & office.
