Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain today conducted a review meeting-cum-field inspection with various departments/agencies for the smooth celebration of the upcoming religious festival Eid-ul-Fitr. During the field visit, senior officers of the Departments of Revenue, Health, Fire Services, MCD, DJB, Horticulture, PWD, and Delhi Police were also present.
The Minister reviewed the preparedness for making readily available essential and emergency services such as facilities for drinking water, provisions for ambulances and fire safety, facilitation of Civil Defence Volunteers to ensure safe and proper celebrations during the forthcoming festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Shri Imran Hussain said during the festive occasion, a large number of devotees/visitors come to religious places to offer their prayers, and also go to greet relatives and friends. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain hygiene and cleanliness across the city. He directed the officials to ensure utmost cleanliness at Eidgah and its surroundings during the festival. He further added that there should be a sufficient number of tippers deployed for the disposal of garbage on a priority basis.
During the visit, the Minister directed the PWD officers to ensure deep cleaning of the main road and footpaths connected to the religious places. Shri Imran Hussain also directed BSES to ensure a regular supply of electricity for the festive occasion of Eid-ul Fitr while also issuing necessary directions for restoration of defunct street lights so that all areas could be illuminated without any interruptions.
The Food and Civil Supplies Minister further directed the officers of the Delhi Jal Board to ensure proper drainage and an uninterrupted supply of water to the residents during the festival. Shri Imran Hussain emphasized on arrangements of water tankers near religious places so that the devotees do not face water-related issues during this summer period.
The Minister also directed the MCD to provide adequate sanitation manpower for cleaning the streets and lanes and asked the officials to ensure that the streets have been cleaned regularly. The Minister said, “I will personally monitor the sanitation and cleanliness drive throughout the walled city”. The F&S Minister directed the officials to ensure utmost cleanliness at Eidgah and its surroundings during the festive occasion.
Moreover, Shri Imran Hussain directed Delhi Police and Area SDM to ensure sufficient deployment of Police personnel and Civil Defence volunteers in the area for the smooth observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. Directions were also given to the Delhi Traffic Police for ensure smooth traffic in the area. Necessary instructions were issued to the Fire services department for placing adequate fire tenders.
Shri Imran Hussain also conveyed greetings to all Delhiites on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, stating that it is a festival of joy, happiness and harmony, and is being celebrated by the members of all communities and religions.
