Former IPS officer Dr Ajoy Kumar appointed as AAP national spokesperson
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday appointed Dr Ajoy Kumar, as its national spokesperson.
Dr Kumar, a former Lok Sabha MP, was inducted into the party by senior leader Mr Manish Sisodia.
Welcoming Dr Kumar, party’s national convenor Mr Arvind Kejriwal has stated that the entry of Dr Kumar into the AAP will strengthen the struggle for a corruption free and prosperous India.
GIVEN BELOW IS A BRIEF PROFILE OF DR AJOY KUMAR
Dr Ajoy Kumar was born in Mangalore, Karnataka on 10th August 1962. He did his schooling from Hyderabad. He earned an MBBS degree from Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Puducherry in 1985.
He qualified the UPSC and was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1986.
Dr Kumar is known for his exemplary work as SP Patna and SP Jamshedpur between 1986 and 1996, particularly for his fight against Mafia Raj in Bihar and Jharkhand
He was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency in a byelection in 2011 on a ticket of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) Party, later he joined the Congress party in 2014. Dr Kumar was till recently the President of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee.
