Continuing the efforts of the Kejriwal Government to enhance the charm and aesthetics of Delhi’s walled city, Food & Civil Supplies Minister, Shri Imran Hussain, inaugurated the underground cabling work of electricity wires from Gali Qasim Jaan to Lal Kuan in Ballimaran. The project, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 2 Crores, is being undertaken by BSES. The main objective of this underground cabling initiative is to preserve the historic architectural character of the walled city in preparation for the forthcoming G20 Summit in Delhi.
During the inauguration, Shri Hussain highlighted that apart from the beautification aspect, the underground cabling work ensures the safety of the residents by removing the high-tension electricity wires hanging above the streets. By adopting modernistic drilling techniques, BSES will efficiently lay the electric wires underground, adhering to a time-bound schedule.
Addressing concerns about inconveniences, Shri Hussain assured that the department would make every effort to minimise disruptions for local shopkeepers and commuters during the cabling work. The Minister advised that the underground cabling activities take place preferably during night hours to avoid any inconvenience to traders and the public.
Shri Hussain further underscored the dedication of the Delhi Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, towards the overall development of the Ballimaran assembly constituency. He mentioned various ongoing development projects, such as the installation and maintenance of high mast lights, development works in katras, segregation of electric wires, installation of new water pipelines, road construction and repair, sewer line work, and the establishment of new school buildings, community centres, and underground reservoirs.
