In line with the vision of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal to provide basic facilities to the residents during the festive seasons, Food & Supply Minister Shri Imran Hussain conducted intensive field visit in Ram Nagar ward of Ballimaran Assembly constituency. At the time of the visit, the Food and Supplies Minister interacted personally with the residents and also took stock of the facilities provided by the government during the upcoming festivals of Navratri, Ramzan and Mahavir Jayanti. During the area visit, Shri Dharmender Mahawar (Ex- Nominated Councillor), officers and engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD), BSES, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board, DUSIB, Revenue Department and Officers of Delhi Police, along with eminent personalities of the area also accompanied Shri Hussain during the field inspection.
The field inspection cum review meeting commenced from Hanuman Mandir in Nabi Karim, which culminated on the main road after passing through narrow lanes of the Ram Nagar area. Shri Imran Hussain said, “During the festive occasion, a large number of devotees/visitors come to religious places to offer their prayers and also go to greet relatives and friends, and therefore it is necessary to maintain hygiene and cleanliness across the walled city.” He further added that there should be a sufficient number of tippers deployed for the disposal of garbage on a priority basis. The Minister also directed the MCD to provide adequate sanitation manpower for cleaning the streets and lanes and asked the officials to ensure the streets were cleaned at least twice a day during the festive occasion. Shri Hussain said, “I will personally monitor the sanitation and cleanliness drive throughout the walled city”.
The F&S Minister instructed the BSES officials to make adequate arrangements for lighting around the religious places and also to ensure a regular supply of electricity during the festive season. He also directed the officers to expedite the repair/maintenance work of the street lights installed in the area so that all street lights remain illuminated uninterruptedly. The Minister also said that the drainage maintenance work should be executed on a regular and priority basis to avoid water logging and ensure the disposal of filth in the area. The Delhi Jal Board officials were directed to repair and replace damaged water pipelines to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fresh water in the area. He also directed the MCD official to better dispose of the garbage and spray pesticides in garbage areas on a regular basis. The PWD department was instructed to expedite the works for the maintenance/repair of roads and footpaths to make roads commuter friendly.
During the visit, the Minister directed various departments and agencies for the smooth celebration of upcoming festivals as these festivals are being celebrated by the members of all the communities and religions. It represents the composite culture of the capital city. The Minister added that adequate arrangements for essential and emergency services should also be ensured.
