Describing the exit polls conducted by various agencies as fake and ridiculous, the Aam Aadmi Party has rejected the forecast for the Lok Sabha elections on the ground that the lacunae in the surveys are alarming.
Exposing the shortcomings in the surveys, senior AAP leader Shri Sanjay Singh said the BJP is trying to confuse the people of the country and influence the counting of votes through exit polls. This is only an attempt to influence the administrative system and the Election Commission before the counting of votes. He said that exit polls have been proved wrong many times and the survey agencies have no accountability if the results are contrary. Therefore, exit polls should be stopped in the country.
Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh, while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday, said that for the past two days, the BJP has been continuously distributing laddoos (sweets) regarding the exit poll results, the people of the country are being misled and an illegitimate attempt is being made to influence the counting of votes on June 4. The exit polls are exposing themselves and proving themselves wrong.
“In this matter, I would like to thank the agencies conducting the exit poll for exposing themselves before the country. They have themselves told the people of the country ‘Dear people, do not trust our exit poll at all.’ Why are these agencies saying so? Because they themselves made their exit polls ridiculous, laughable, and unbelievable. Something like this has happened for the first time in the history of India and exit polls,” he stated.
While showing the ridiculous results of exit polls, Shri Sanjay Singh showed the reports from different states. He stated, “I will start with Jharkhand, as per the exit polls, the CPI(M), which is not contesting the elections, is getting 2-3 seats, and the CPI (ML), which is actually contesting the elections, is only fighting on one seat; In Tamil Nadu, the Congress party is contesting the elections on 9 seats but they are winning on 15 seats. I believe that BJP leaders might have fainted and fell down by seeing these exit polls, they themselves can’t believe it. Their vote share is predicted to be 34% votes (+/- 3%) in Tamil Nadu. I think even God will not believe this exit poll survey that the BJP is getting 37% vote share in Tamil Nadu; In Uttarakhand, the total number of seats is 5 but the BJP is winning on 6; In Haryana, the total number of seats is 10, but the exit polls have predicted that there will be 16-19 seats, and out of these 6-8 seats will be given to the NDA and the remaining seats to the INDIA alliance.”
“Coming to Himachal Pradesh, the total number of parliamentary seats is 4, and the exit polls are showing that the results will be declared on 6-8 seats. That means 4 will come from Himachal Pradesh, no one knows where the remaining seats will come from. In Rajasthan, there are 25 parliamentary seats but these exit polls gave the NDA 33 seats, 8 seats are complimentary. BJP must have also fainted after hearing the exit polls of Kerala, the NDA has been given 27% votes in Kerala. In Kerala, where the Left Party is in power, the NDA has got even more votes than the Left Party. From where did they prepare this exit poll?” he questioned.
The senior AAP leader stated that these exit polls are ridiculous in itself. In Bihar, Chirag Paswan’s JLP is contesting on 5 seats, but they are predicted to won on 6 seats as per exit poll; In Uttar Pradesh, the vote share of the INDIA alliance has been increased by 7% and the NDA’s vote share has been decreased by 4%. The BSP’s vote share was shown as 14%. The Kurmi voters were shown to be voting more for India Alliance; Dalit voters were shown to have voted in favour of the INDIA alliance by around 33%. Then how did the seats for the INDIA alliance get reduced? The INDIA alliance’s seats decreased and NDA’s increased, how come? What kind of exit poll was declared on 1st June? I have disclosed everything in front of you, he said.
“I am extremely grateful to the exit poll agencies for exposing themselves in front of the nation. I believe there must have been immense pressure on them to change the exit poll numbers. They also told Modi ji that okay, we will change the number in such a way that the public will not believe it,” Shri Sanjay Singh stated.
The Rajya Sabha MP also exposed the history of exit polls one by one. Shri Sanjay Singh, citing the example of exit poll data which has been proven wrong, said that the exit poll results came in 2004, when the strong slogan of ‘India Shining’ was given. In that slogan of ‘India Shining’, one channel gave 268 seats to the BJP, the second channel gave 267, the third gave 270, the fourth gave 263, the fifth gave 265 seats. When the results came, the BJP lost in 2004.
“Assembly elections were held in West Bengal in 2021. Prime Minister Modi gave the slogan of ‘200 Paar’ in West Bengal. Everyone had also forbidden him from campaigning during the Corona period, but he was saying ‘200 Paar’ even during Corona. At that time, 10 different channels gave different predictions for the BJP, from 121, 148, 115, 185, 132, 115, 160, 192, 185 to 135 seats. Before the results were announced, the BJP volunteers were dancing and distributing sweets in the entire country under the leadership of the Prime Minister. But when the results came, the BJP got only 77 seats. This is the history of exit polls. Exit polls have been proven wrong not once but many times. In the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, Congress had got 40 seats and the BJP had got 25 seats. But in the exit poll results that came, one gave BJP 41 seats, the second 39, the third 40, the fourth 32, the fifth 33, and the sixth 34 seats. Not a single exit poll result proved to be correct.”
Shri Sanjay Singh said that a TV channel showed NDA getting around 370 seats in its exit poll. They are saying that we have brought an AI survey which has a sample size of 10 crore people. In that, INDIA alliance was moving ahead very fast till 460 seats, so somehow it pulled NDA ahead and pushed INDIA alliance behind. Exit polls prove wrong every time. In Delhi-Punjab, we saw that nobody was giving 92 seats to the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, but we got 92 out of 117 seats. In the 2013 exit poll, we were being given 0 to 6 seats in Delhi, whereas we got 28 seats. The second time, some were giving 32, 25 and some were giving 22 seats, but we got 62 seats.
He said that now exit polls should be banned in this country. This is a wrong attempt to influence the people of the country, administrative system and Election Commission before the counting of votes. Exit polls have been proved wrong not once, but many times. If the results of the exit polls do not match the results of the counting of votes, then these news and survey agencies have no responsibility. They did not apologize when the exit polls of Delhi, West Bengal, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh proved wrong. They did not apologize even when the exit polls were wrong in 2004. Why do you want to confuse the people of the country, the counting process and the Election Commission before the counting of votes? That is why we are calling it the exit poll expose. The people of the country should not trust it at all. On June 4, complete caution should be taken inside and outside the counting centers so that the BJP is not able to manipulate even a single vote during the counting. Because the exit poll agencies themselves are shouting that do not trust us. The INDIA alliance is going to get 295 seats, we will form the government on June 4. We will fulfill the promises we have made to the people, he concluded.
