Today, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain chaired a meeting with officers of the Delhi Jal Board in view of the upcoming holy month of Ramazan. The Minister directed the officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fresh water in the walled city of Delhi. He emphasised the need to ensure a smooth water supply in the morning as well as in the evening during the Holy month of Ramazan.
With the aim to provide basic amenities to the citizens and to ensure freshwater supply, F&S Minister Shri Hussain directed the Delhi Jal Board officers to explore the feasibility of establishing at least 12 motor booster pumps in the area for equitable distribution of water with increased water pressure for the residents. Shri Hussain also expressed the need to increase the capacity of the Underground Reservoir (UGR) in the Pahari Dheeraj area and directed the concerned officials to expedite the upgradation work of the Reservoir. He added that residents would be benefitted from equitable water distribution with increased water pressure after upgradation.
Shri Imran Hussain further said that arrangements for water tankers should also be ensured near religious places so that the devotees do not face water-related issues during the summer season. He also reviewed the water boring work being carried out by the Delhi Jal Board and directed the officials to complete the work expeditiously in view of the water requirements of the area. He further directed DJB officers to install new water pipelines in place of damaged pipelines wherever required to ensure proper and equitable water supply to the residents and to monitor the ground situation on a regular basis.
Shri Imran Hussain added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government is committed to providing necessary and basic facilities such as drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, and ensuring cleanliness and street lights during the festive seasons
