In order to fulfil CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s vision and alleviate the water problem for the people of Patel Nagar constituency, Cabinet Minister and MLA Shri Raaj Kumar Anand held a meeting with officials of the Delhi Jal Board on Monday. The discussion encompassed several important issues, including increasing water supply in the area, laying new water lines, and addressing the problem of contaminated water. Cabinet Minister and MLA Shri Raaj Kumar Anand emphasised that the water supply situation for drinking purposes in Patel Nagar will be improved very soon. New water lines will be installed in the area, after which the residents will receive water directly from the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant. Additionally, instructions were given to immediately increase the number of water tankers in the areas where water is currently being supplied through tankers to alleviate water scarcity.
Shri Anand stated that a historic project is set to unfold in the water supply sector of Patel Nagar, which will benefit the entire constituency. He said, “For the first time, the water infrastructure in Patel Nagar will undergo a transformation with the installation of new water lines. Upon completion of this project, the residents will directly receive water from the Chandrawal Plant. For this project, the esteemed Japanese company, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is working in collaboration with the Delhi Jal Board. The work on this project has commenced, and the residents of Patel Nagar will soon receive its benefits.”
During this meeting, Shri Anand directed the Delhi Jal Board officials to swiftly address the issue of contaminated water in Patel Nagar, providing a 30-day deadline for the same. He reprimanded the DJB officials for not resolving the issue earlier. Shri Anand further instructed the DJB officials to increase the number of water tankers in the area, ensuring that residents do not suffer from water problems during the summer season. Additionally, during the meeting, directives were given to expedite the installation of booster pumps and carry out borewell works in the Patel Nagar assembly constituency.
Shri Anand also held a meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) to discuss the beautification of key roads in the Patel Nagar area. During the meeting, Shri Anand issued instructions for the swift completion of beautification work on important routes such as Madhav Setu Marg, D.L. Sikka Marg, Vishwakarma Marg, and Shadipur Metro Station to Pusa Gol Chakkar road. These roads will be adorned with lights and greenery. Additionally, signboards will be installed on the roads to assist pedestrians. The Cabinet Minister also directed the PWD officials to expedite pending works in Patel Nagar.
