The Aam Aadmi Party has expressed strong objection to the Tihar Jail administration for not allowing the Delhi Cabinet Minister Ms. Atishi to meet CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh says that a big conspiracy is being hatched by not allowing the Chief Minister to meet anyone in jail. He said that he will write a letter to the Prime Minister and LG against this on Thursday.
Shri Sanjay Singh said on Wednesday, Education Minister Ms. Atishi along with Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj were to meet the CM. For this, Ms. Atishi had duly applied on Tuesday following all the rules, but the meeting was cancelled at the last moment. On Wednesday morning, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sandeep Pathak went to meet the CM along with Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, but he was also not allowed to meet him. Only Saurabh Bharadwaj was allowed to meet the CM. Shri Sanjay Singh asked the Prime Minister, what enmity do you have against Shri Arvind Kejriwal, his family and followers? You want to bring down the morale of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, but he will not bow down or bend due to these actions, added Shri Sanjay Singh.
Addressing a press conference, senior AAP leader Shri Sanjay Singh stated that every time I have to talk to you about Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s situation in Tihar Jail, there is immense pain and suffering in my heart that why is the Prime Minister taking revenge on Shri Arvind Kejriwal, his family and his followers?
He stated that today, Delhi’s Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj and Delhi’s Education Minister Ms. Atishi had to meet the Chief Minister, but yesterday Ms. Atishi’s meeting was not confirmed, it was cancelled. The Education Minister of Delhi, following all the rules, applies for the meeting, but at the last moment, their meeting is cancelled. We told the National General Secretary of the AAP and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Sandeep Pathak, to go for the meeting along with the Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj. Today, when they went to see the CM, they were informed at 9.30 am that they would not be allowed to meet the CM.
Slamming the jail authorities and the Modi-led central government, Shri Sanjay Singh said, “Today you are cancelling the CM’s meeting with an MP, you are cancelling his meeting with the Minister of Education. You have already cancelled my meeting with him. Tomorrow, you will bar him from meeting his wife or anybody else. This did not even happen even during the British rule, even the biggest dictators do not behave like Prime Minister Modi, he has surpassed all of them. The meetings of ministers and officials of his government to meet the three-time elected Chief Minister are being cancelled, even after following all the procedures. If this is not dictatorship, then what is it? How much hatred do you (PM Modi) harbour in your heart and mind for Shri Arvind Kejriwal? Tomorrow, you will not even let him meet his wife. In future, you will stop him from meeting the Chief Minister of Punjab,” he said.
Reiterating the AAP’s allegations against the ED, jail authorities, and the BJP-led central government of conspiring to kill Shri Arvind Kejriwal in custody, Shri Sanjay Singh said that it took them 23 days to provide insulin to the CM. Everyone was saying that ‘the jail administration is saying that there is no need of insulin, these Aam Aadmi Party people create ruckus for no reason, the concern of Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s wife (Smt. Sunita Kejriwal) and his family is unnecessary.’ What happened after 23 days? For 23 days you kept playing with the life of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party kept protesting along with the people of Delhi, raised their voice, CM’s wife and family raised their voice, we had to file application in court, after all of this, you are giving him insulin, he stated.
The Rajya Sabha MP questioned, “Doesn’t it seem like CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal is being treated worse than terrorists? Worse than the most notorious criminals? Even the most notorious criminals are allowed to meet their lawyers and families in the barracks. Even their meetings are not stopped, but you are cancelling the meeting of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. If he kept asking for insulin for 23 days and you did not provide it to him, then why is he being provided the same insulin after 23 days? This means that we were right throughout, that the CM’s life was being played with, a deep conspiracy was being hatched to kill him, which we have been saying again and again. Our words have been blown to pieces many times, we are asked for evidence and proof. Whatever is happening is a living proof of their (BJP’s) conduct and working system, and their dictatorship. Therefore, I will write a letter to the Prime Minister and the LG on Thursday regarding all these issues and share it with the media. This is extremely sad; it has never happened even during the British rule. An inmate is allowed to write down the names of 10 people including his family, whom he is allowed to meet. If any prisoner wants to meet any of these, he cannot be stopped from meeting these people,” Sanjay Singh concluded.
The senior AAP leader further added that a conspiracy is being hatched against the AAP at many levels. This is being done 24 hours, CCTV footage is being monitored from PMO and LG office. Leaving aside the work that PM Modi should be doing, he is busy ensuring how Shri Arvind Kejriwal will be monitored 24 hours by CCTV, what he is eating and drinking, how he is sleeping and waking up, how frustrated and sad he is? By doing all this, you (PM Modi) want to bring down the morale of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. He will neither break nor bow down nor stop due to these actions of you and your government.
Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj meets CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail
Health Minister Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj, after meeting CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in jail, said that we had taken an appointment from Tihar administration at 12:30 pm to meet CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. I was able to have a discussion with him for about half an hour. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal was sitting on the other side of the glass in a window, and I was sitting on the other side. I was able to talk to him through a phone. We had a good conversation. The only thing that the CM emphasised on was that Delhiites should not worry about him; he is very strong and will continue his fight with the blessings of the people of Delhi.
