New and stalled projects will get speedy approvals

The Delhi Jal Board is determined to provide a better water supply to the residents of Delhi. Despite limited resources, the DJB has expedited its efforts to increase the production of water to fulfil this resolution. The DJB aims to increase the capacity of water treatment plants to increase the production of water, and many projects are being worked upon to revive Delhi’s water bodies. In the meeting, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj asked the DJB officials to submit the status report of projects that are related to water. Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “Due to the increase of pollutants like ammonia in the waters of Yamuna, the production in the water treatment plant gets affected many times. The Delhi Jal Board is looking for a permanent solution against ammonia-led water pollution. The DJB is also planning to appoint an expert as a consultant to study the problem of ammonia in water and find a permanent solution.” Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj also directed the officials of DJB to give clearance to new projects and stalled projects that can help in speedy work.

Projects related to sewerage key for clean Yamuna

For the cleanliness of Yamuna, the most important task is to connect the entirety of Delhi with the sewage system. To accomplish this task, the Delhi Jal Board is expanding its sewage network to every corner of Delhi. In this regard, sewer lines are being laid to connect new areas in Delhi with the sewage network. Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj also reviewed the projects related to sewage with the DJB officials. The officials apprised Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj about the progress of sewage projects. He said, “The DJB is working on a war footing to make Yamuna clean, and for this, sewer lines are being provided in those areas of Delhi where sewer lines could not reach till now. The expansion of the sewage network will lead to the arrest and treatment of effluents that come out of households in the treatment plants and disallow their outfall into the Yamuna River. This will help in reducing the pollution load and also help in achieving the goal of a clean Yamuna.” Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj instructed the DJB officials to complete the works related to sewage projects within the stipulated time.
