On Sunday, Delhi’s Development Minister, Shri Gopal Rai, on behalf of the Kejriwal government, met with the families of three COVID warriors who lost their lives while saving lives during the COVID pandemic and handed them an ex-gratia of ₹1 crore each. During this interaction, the Delhi Development Minister mentioned that Sandip Kumar Sharma was working at CATS, Krishna Pal at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, and Poonam Nagar at GTB Hospital. They succumbed to COVID while performing their duties. Notably, Delhi’s Kejriwal government has provided financial assistance of ₹1 crore to many families of COVID warriors who lost their lives while serving others during the pandemic.

Delhi Development Minister Shri Gopal Rai today visited the families of these three COVID warriors – the late Sandip Kumar Sharma’s family in Navin Shahdara, the late Krishna Pal’s family in Tahirpur, and the late Poonam Nagar’s family in GTB Enclave. The Minister handed over a check of ₹1 crore to each family member, consoling them and assuring future assistance in case of any need. He mentioned, “While this compensation amount might not cover the loss suffered by the families, I hope it will assist them in shaping their future and providing a little help in their lives.”

Delhi Development Minister shared, “During the COVID pandemic, doctors, nurses, and staff worked tirelessly round the clock, staying away from their families, to provide services for patients’ treatment. Amid this, many COVID warriors themselves got infected and lost their lives while serving. I pray for peace for their souls. The Delhi government is always there to support them. We express our gratitude to all our COVID warriors who selflessly served people without caring for their own lives.”
