Food minister’s surprise midnight inspection finds huge ration diversion in Outer Delhi
· 15 quintals of foodgrains were being illegally diverted from a FCI godown in Mundka
· Minister found local people who protested were beaten up by ration mafia

Food and civil supplies Minister, Shri Imran Hussain on Thursday midnight conducted a surprise inspection after he received a tip-off about the illegal diversion of huge quantity of ration to a flour mill from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) Godown at Ghevra in Mundka region of outer Delhi.
The Minister first directed the Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies (CFS) to immediately rush an Enforcement Team and Quick Response Team so that the vehicles carrying the ration do not escape.
During the preliminary enquiry, it was found that 24 bags of wheat weighing 12 Quintals and six bags of rice weighing three Quintals, total of 15 quintals of food grains, bearing the stamp and logo of Food Corporation of India were being clandestinely diverted to a flour mill from the FCI Godown, Ghevra.
It was found that some innocent citizens were also beaten up by those pilfering the ration. On the intervention of the residents, the police was called and the truck was taken to the Police Station.Police Team also sprung into immediate action when the truck carrying the pilfered foodgrains was brought to the Police Station Mundka.
On reaching the spot, the Minister directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Police Station to take action against those who were involved in pilferage and in beating the innocent citizens.
Shri Hussain expressed deep shock and anguish that the food grains meant for poor and needy persons were being diverted for black marketing.
The Minister directed the Quick Response Team of Food and Civil Supplies Department to immediately enquire into the role of FPS owners, transporters, mill owners alongwith officers of F&CS Department and Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation (DSCSC) and initiate action against them.
The Minister directed the CFS to increase the vigil and ensure that the food grains are delivered to the targeted sections of the society timely and in prescribed quantities.
Shri Hussain also directed the officers of Food and Civil Supplies Department to take steps to implement the doorstep delivery of food grains approved by the Delhi Cabinet.
The Minister said that pilferage of food grains could have been avoided in case doorstep delivery of foodgrains had been started. It would have also ensured that the ration reached the beneficiaries well in time and they were not deprived of ration by the illegal and criminal activities of vested interests.
