The Aam Aadmi Party continues to expand, days after a historic win with a thumping majority in MCD elections, to make the vision of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal of holistic development a reality. In this sequence, newly elected Congress councillors Ms Sabila Begum and Ms Nazia Khatoon joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday. Delhi State Congress Vice-President Shri Ali Mehdi also joined AAP along with hundreds of Congress leaders on the occasion. AAP MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak inducted everyone in the party and presented them with Topi-Patka. AAP Leader Shri Adil Ahmed Khan was also present on this occasion.
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Firstly, I would like to congratulate all the people of Delhi for throwing the BJP out of power in the MCD. In 15 years, all the BJP did in the MCD was to increase corruption and take the city in a downward spiral. They have made the corporation hollow and this city a mess. I would also like to thank the people of the city for giving AAP a full majority in the MCD elections. Just like CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has said, we want to make Delhi one of the best cities in the world to live in. For this purpose, we require the support of everyone in Delhi. We need the support of the public, the workers of all political parties – it could be AAP, BJP or Congress. We also need the support of RWAs, of members living in unauthorised colonies and so on. It is only if we all work together that we can keep Delhi clean. I am very happy to announce to you that a lot of prominent citizens of Delhi, impressed by the progress brought by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, are today joining the Aam Aadmi Party to fulfil his vision.”
He concluded, “Today we have Ali Mehdi, a prominent person in the politics of Delhi. He and his father have given several years of their lives to the politics of Delhi. Until now, he was also the vice-president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC). Prior to it, he was the chairman of the Congress Minority Cell. Besides him, we also have two people who recently won the elections and became the councillors of the MCD. We have Sabila Begum, a councillor from Mustafabad and Nazia Khatoon, a councillor from Brij Puri ward. Moreover, Nehru Vihar Block President Aleem Ansari, Delhi Congress Executive member Haji Khushnood, Mustafabad Block President Javed Chowdhary and Shiv Vihar Block President Ashok Baghel are joining the Aam Aadmi Party along with hundreds of Congress leaders. I heartily welcome everyone to the Aam Aadmi Party. We will work more strongly and effectively in the MCD with their cooperation.”
About Ali Mehdi
Before joining the AAP, Ali Mehdi was the Vice President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. Prior to this, he was the chairman of the Minority Cell. He hails from a family with a vast political experience. He and his father have made a significant contribution to the politics of Delhi.
Shri Ali Mehdi said, “We are also proud to be joining AAP a day after the party has become a National Party. Over the years I have noticed that the people of Delhi are highly impressed by the way CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been working for the residents and are therefore happy to join him in taking Delhi forward. Mustafabad is my home and my father has been the MLA here for two terms. During his tenure we worked very hard for the people of our ward. But ever since his term got over, the work in Mustafabad has become slow. This was bothering us and when I got an opportunity to meet Shri Arvind Kejriwal and I told him about this, he said that if we all worked together, we will be able to do more for the people of the area. We are all very impressed by the way Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been able to stand up against the divisive forces of the BJP and we are confident that over the years, AAP will only go on to become stronger. दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल के आवाहन पर कांग्रेस की नवनिर्वाचित पार्षद सबीला बेगम और नाज़िया खातून आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हो गईं। दिल्ली कांग्रेस के उपाध्यक्ष अली महदी सैंकड़ों कांग्रेस नेताओं के साथ आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हो गए। ‘आप’ विधायक दुर्गेश पाठक ने टोपी-पटका पहनाकर सभी का पार्टी में स्वागत किया। इस दौरान आम आदमी पार्टी नेता आदिल अहमद खान भी मौजूद रहे।
दुर्गेश पाठक ने कहा कि पूरी दिल्ली का बहुत-बहुत आभार कि 15 सालों से भाजपा ने दिल्ली में कोई काम नहीं किया, दिल्ली को जो बर्बाद किया, आज दिल्लीवालों ने भाजपा को वोट ना देकर एमसीडी में आम आदमी पार्टी की पूर्ण बहुमत से सरकार बनाई। हमें दिल्ली को पूरी दुनिया का सबसे सुंदर और साफ शहर बनाना है। इसके लिए हमें भाजपा, कांग्रेस, आरडब्ल्यूएस आदि सभी का सहयोग चाहिए। जब सब साथ आएंगे तभी तो दिल्ली को दुनिया का सबसे सुंदर और साफ शहर बनाना संभव होगा।
उन्होंने कहा कि आज दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल के आवाहन पर दिल्ली के विकास के लिए दिल्ली की जानी-मानी शख्सियत और कांग्रेस नेता अली महदी आम आदमी पार्टी का दामन थाम रहे हैं। बहुत ही खुशी की बात है कि एमसीडी चुनाव के बाद कांग्रेस की नवनिर्वाचित पार्षद सबीला बेगम और नाज़िया खातून आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हो रही हैं। सबीला बेगम मुस्तफाबाद वॉर्ड से पार्षद बनी हैं और नाज़िया खातून बृजपुरी वॉर्ड की पार्षद चुनी गई हैं। उनके साथ नेहरू विहार के ब्लॉक अध्यक्ष अलीम अंसारी, दिल्ली कांग्रेस के कार्यकारी सदस्य हाजी खुशनूद, मुस्तफाबाद के ब्लॉक अध्यक्ष जावेद चौधरी और शिव विहार के ब्लॉक अध्यक्ष अशोक बघेल सैंकड़ों कांग्रेस नेताओं के साथ आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हो रहे हैं। मैं सभी का आम आदमी पार्टी में हार्दिक स्वागत करता हूं। इन सभी की हिस्सेदारी के साथ दिल्ली नगर निगम में और मजबूती से काम कर सकेंगे।
अली महदी का परिचय
अली महदी आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल होने से पहले तक दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस के उपाध्यक्ष थे। इससे पहले वह माइनॉरिटी विभाग के चेयरमैन रह चुके हैं। इनके पूरे परिवार का लंबा राजनीतिक अनुभव रहा है। दिल्ली की राजनीति में इनका और इनके पिता का एक बड़ा योगदान रहा है।
कांग्रेस छोड़कर आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल होने का कारण बताते हुए अली महदी ने कहा कि मुझे बहुत अच्छा लग रहा है कि आम आदमी पार्टी को राष्ट्रीय पार्टी का ओहदा मिल गया है। ऐसी पार्टी का हिस्सा बनने पर मुझे बहुत खुशी हो रही है। हम सब आज दिल्ली के बहुत ही लोकप्रिय मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल जी के नेतृत्व में हो रहे कामों से प्रभावित होकर आप पार्टी का दामन थाम रहे हैं। भाजपा की लाख कोशिशों के बावजूद दिल्ली की जनता ने एमसीडी में आप सरकार को पूर्ण बहुमत से जिताया। कांग्रेस पार्टी में काफी लंबे समय से हिस्सेदारी रही है। मुस्तफाबाद मेरे लिए हमेशा से सर्वोपरि रहा है। मेरे पिता जी 2 बार विधायक रहे, उन्होंने वहां पर बहुत काम कराया लेकिन उसके बाद से वहां कोई काम नहीं हुआ। हम सभी आम आदमी पार्टी के साथ मिलकर वहां खूब काम करने का लक्ष्य रखते हैं।
