The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expresses no surprises in Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena’s meddling in the case of former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal, affirming that it confirms Swati Maliwal’s alignment with the BJP. According to AAP, the BJP is orchestrating daily conspiracies ahead of the elections, ranging from the alleged “liquor scam” to false allegations of foreign funding. With Lok Sabha elections approaching on May 25 in Delhi and June 1 in Punjab, AAP asserts that the BJP, fearing a significant defeat, is using Swati Maliwal to bolster their campaign, to save PM Modi’s sinking boat. AAP asserts that the public is aware of these tactics and will respond decisively through their vote.
Meanwhile, Senior AAP Leader and Cabinet Minister in the Delhi Government Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj writes on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter), tagging the Delhi CM in his post, “Saxena Saab (Delhi LG) Perhaps you have forgotten, the wrestler daughters who won medals for the country were sitting on a ‘dharna’ at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. They were sitting in the sun and rain. They had to file an FIR that BJP MP Brij Bhushan had repeatedly sexually exploited them. Then the Delhi Police under you did not even register an FIR. Tell me why it was not registered? The FIR was only registered after the orders of the Supreme Court…”
“But despite the case under Section 354, the BJP MP was not arrested even for a day. Delhi Police is under you, tell me why he was not arrested? Why did you remain silent on the whole issue? Why didn’t you go to meet him? Then were you not worried about the international image of Delhi and India? The police under your command brutally beat these daughters at midnight. Tell me what action you took? The same night Swati Maliwal was also dragged on the road by the police. Tell me what action you took? ‘Thoda girebaan mein jhankiye’ (Take a little peek inside),” the post concludes.
The Aam Aadmi Party has said that former DCW Chairperson and Rajya Sabha Member Swati Maliwal is facing an investigation in the alleged recruitment scam case from Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) that contractual employees were recruited in DCW in an illegal manner. This case has been going on for the last several years. An FIR has also been filed against her. Now this case is about to end. Therefore, it’s plausible that the formula of BJP to file cases against leaders of opposition parties must have been employed in the Swati Maliwal case. Perhaps Swati Maliwal was made to do this by threatening her about the case going on against her in DCW. Swati Maliwal’s call records should be investigated. She has been in constant touch with BJP leaders for the last few months. Delhi Police should investigate what kind of political conspiracy is this, which is being hatched to attack Shri Arvind Kejriwal just 5 days before the elections in Delhi.
The AAP says that the BJP habitually misuses investigative agencies. Like other opposition leaders, BJP first got a case registered by ACB on Swati Maliwal, then FIR was lodged. The case is still being investigated. Now through this case, this conspiracy has been hatched with the help of Swati Maliwal. Swati Maliwal has been made a pawn of this conspiracy just before the elections. There should be an impartial investigation of the entire matter to find out who is in contact with whom. Which BJP leader did Swati Maliwal meet, when did she meet, what was discussed on phone and WhatsApp.
