The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday welcomed a Delhi court order directing AIIMS to constitute a medical board with diabetes specialist to examine Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s health issues.
Delhi cabinet ministers and AAP senior leaders Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj and Ms. Atishi gave their responses on the Rouse Avenue court’s order The leaders said that today’s court order to constitute a medical board of specialist doctors to examine the Chief Minister has proved that there was no diabetologist in the Tihar jail so far.
Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “Shri Arvind Kejriwal is in Tihar jail for about 22 days. He has been saying for many days that his sugar level is increasing and there is no expert diabetes specialist inside the jail, and he is demanding insulin. Therefore, he asked the court to allow him to do video conferencing with his specialist doctor because there was no specialist doctor in the jail. Today, the court’s decision made it clear that there is no diabetes specialist in Tihar Jail. The court said that AIIMS should form a medical board with diabetes specialists to decide what treatment should be given to Shri Arvind Kejriwal and what medicine is required. I think this is a welcome step and this has proved that whatever he was saying was true…” He posted the message on his ‘X’ handle too.
Ms. Atishi stated, “Today’s Rouse Avenue Court’s order proves that Shri Arvind Kejriwal didn’t receive the right medical supervision since the day he is in Tihar jail. Today, after 22 days of his judicial custody, the Rouse Avenue Court has directed the Tihar jail authorities to constitute a medical board of specialized doctors, including endocrinologists from AIIMS, who will examine and look after the severe diabetic condition of Shri Arvind Kejriwal. We hope that this medical board will sit down today only to do Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s checkup and will start giving him insulin from today itself. His sugar level has been above 300 for the last 10 days and he has been continuously demanding insulin as it is the only resort to control the sugar level above 300.” She too posted the message on her ‘X’ handle.
