  • Delhi Cabinet increases honorarium of Anganwadi workers & helpers by nearly 100%
  • Workers to get Rs. 9678 per month, helpers to get Rs. 4839 per month
  • Government also decides to pay Rs. 500 and Rs. 250 per month as mobile/internet charges in addition to the honorarium
  • The previous honorarium was Rs. 5000 per month and Rs. 2500 per month respectively

The Delhi Cabinet, Chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday (July 22) approved the proposal of hike in the honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers.

The Cabinet gave a nod to around 100% hike in the honorarium of the workers and helpers. The honorarium of the Anganwadi Workers has been hiked from Rs. 5,000/- per month to Rs. 9678/- per month. In the hiked honorarium, the Government of India’s share remains the same at Rs. 1800/- per month, while the share of Delhi Government increases from Rs. 3200/- to Rs. 7878/- per month.

The Arvind Kejriwal cabinet also approved enhancement of the honorarium of Aanganwadi Helpers from Rs. 2500/- per month to Rs. 4839/- per month. In the hiked honorarium, the Government of India’s share remains the same at Rs. 900/- per month, while the share of Delhi Government increases from Rs. 1600/- to Rs. 3939/- per month.

In addition to the hike in honorarium, the Delhi Government has also decided to provide these Aanganwadi Workers, Aanganwadi-cum-Creche Workers and Aanganwadi Helpers with mobile/internet charges.

The Aanganwadi Workers and Aanganwadi-cum-Creche Workers will get a monthly amount of Rs. 500/- as mobile/internet charges, the Aanganwadi helpers would be provided with a monthly of Rs. 250/- as mobile/internet charges.

The decision comes in wake of several inspections made by the Deputy Chief Minister to the Aanganwadis in Delhi. Apart from the inspections, the Chief Minister also met with hundreds of Aanganwadi workers & helpers in batches at his residence. They had raised the issue of honorarium and mobile/internet charges in their meeting with the Chief Minister apart from other demands. The Chief Minister had assured them of a salary hike in a few days.
