The Delhi Jal Board has stepped up its efforts to raise administrative efficiency and augment revenue. In this series, Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Shri Somnath Bharti chaired an important meeting with senior officials of Delhi Jal Board on the issue of revenue augmentation at DJB Headquarters on Monday. Several key decisions were taken in this meeting to increase revenue, train DJB employees and makeover of revenue offices of DJB. The DJB Vice Chairman said that the impact of the Kejriwal Model of governance should be visible in the offices of DJB also. Therefore, it has been decided to upgrade and change the face of DJB’s Zonal Revenue Offices. Moreover, officials have also been instructed to start the process of centralised monitoring of the Zonal Revenue Office with the objective of increasing transparency. The DJB Vice Chairman has asked DJB officials to take strict action against defaulting commercial connections and government connections in order to increase revenue.
Delhi Jal Board is striving consistently to provide better facilities to the residents of Delhi. Now DJB Vice Chairman Shri Somnath Bharti has taken a big decision for complete makeover or facelift of the DJB revenue offices located in all the zones of Delhi. The DJB Vice Chairman said that as part of the makeover, a work schedule will be put up in every zonal revenue office of Delhi Jal Board. All revenue offices will have CCTV cameras installed. Waiting and seating areas will be constructed for people who visit these offices. The people of Delhi who visit the revenue offices will now also be able to share their experiences and suggestions as feedback boxes will be set up for this purpose. Apart from this, frames and standees will also be installed at various places in the offices to inform people about the services and schemes of Delhi Jal Board. Water coolers will also be installed to provide clean drinking water to the people. DJB Vice Chairman said that the impact of the Kejriwal Model of governance should also be seen in the offices of Delhi Jal Board. That is why it has been decided to upgrade the Zonal Revenue Offices for a complete facelift. Moreover, a process of centralized monitoring of zonal revenue offices will start that will help increase transparency.
The DJB Vice Chairman said that Delhi Jal Board values its precious customers whom it serves in letter and spirit. It is important to have a good and strong relationship between the consumer and the workforce of DJB. For this, Delhi Jal Board is planning to impart special training to its employees. Shri Somnath Bharti said that DJB officers and other employees will be given customer satisfaction training just like the workforce of multinational firms to deal better with their consumers. DJB will take the services of experts for training the DJB employees. In the training, the DJB employees will be taught ways to behave better with DJB customers.
DJB will take strict action against defaulting commercial connections and government connections for revenue augmentation
Several decisions were also taken in today’s meeting to increase the revenue of Delhi Jal Board. The DJB Vice Chairman directed the officers to take strict action against those defaulting consumers who have commercial connections. Shri Somnath Bharti instructed the DJB officials to run a special drive in this regard to increase the revenue. He said that the bill should be recovered from the defaulters of 10 years old commercial connections and government connections within 15 days. Their commercial water connection could also be disconnected. The same has been instructed to recover the bill from the 5 year old commercial and Government defaulters in a month. The defaulting consumers with commercial connections owe Rs 18,000 crore to Delhi Jal Board. Apart from this, the DJB Vice Chairman also asked to regularize illegal water connections by completing necessary formalities so that the revenue of Delhi Jal Board can be raised. The DJB Vice Chairman said that the revenue officials who have performed extraordinary will be honoured by the Delhi Jal Board.
