New Delhi: On the directions of the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the entire Cabinet of the Delhi government toured different parts of the city to check whether their constituents were inspecting their homes for dengue breeding spots. The campaign gained tremendous support from celebrities across Delhi and India like Kapil Dev, Javed Akhtar, Taapsee Pannu, among others. In the third week of the campaign, the chief minister directed his colleagues in the Cabinet to work towards encouraging mass participation in the campaign.
“The nature of dengue is such that only individual families can protect themselves from harm. Therefore, there is no alternative to a mass movement against dengue. I have asked other Ministers of the government to visit residential areas and encourage Delhiites to check their homes. Together, we can save Delhi from dengue,” said CM Kejriwal.
After inspecting his own residence at 10 AM today morning, Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia met with small groups of residents in Manas Apartment, Acharya Niketan of Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and Pandav Nagar. He was assured by residents that they had become alert about stagnant water after Delhi government’s mega drive began on 1st September.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain was seen personally visiting homes of residents in Pashchim Vihar and making people aware of the dangerous impact of allowing water inside coolers and near ACs to accumulate for more than a week. He explained to residents that the coolers and ACs inside our homes generate the most clean water that goes unchecked.
In Ballimaran, Minister Imran Hussain, along with a group of local residents oversaw the distribution of pamphlets with information about dengue mosquito and the precautions residents must take to prevent dengue. He was seen handing informational material to people in the neighbourhood, apart from checking whether residents had conducted their weekly inspection.
Cabinet Ministers Kailash Gahlot, Rajendra Pal Gautam and Gopal Rai also visited parts of the city as part of the campaign.
