Delhi’s Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal inspected the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Parade Camp in Delhi Cantt on Monday. During this, the CM praised the notable contribution of the NCC to the country.
Addressing the cadets, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that NCC provides an opportunity to serve the nation with discipline and courage. The NCC has played a crucial role in making the country’s youth energetic, entrepreneurial, and responsible citizens. The objective of NCC training is to develop candidates holistically, aligning with the current challenges of the country. In a fervent acknowledgement, the Chief Minister mentioned the monumental contributions of NCC cadets in conscientiously addressing various societal issues such as ‘Nasha Mukti’, ‘Save the Earth,’ ‘Swachh Bharat’, ‘Save the Girl Child,’ ‘Save Environment,’ and ‘Anti Dowry,’ among others. With unwavering confidence, he affirmed, each candidate will not only bring honour to themselves but will also be a source of immense pride for both the nation and the NCC.
During the inspection of the NCC Republic Day Parade Camp in Delhi Cantt, NCC Director General Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, along with other dignitaries, was present. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal witnessed various activities organized in the camp. The Chief Minister was guided from Gate Number 1 to the NCC Camp area, led by the NCC Director General. At first, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal was given the Guard of Honor. Subsequently, the Chief Minister enjoyed the NCC band and toured the flag area. The program concluded with the singing of the NCC anthem followed by the national anthem. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal also interacted with the cadets during tea. After this, the CM received a memento and participated in a group photo with the cadets.
Addressing the NCC cadets at NCC Republic Day Parade Camp, Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal congratulated everyone, extending his heartiest greetings for a happy and prosperous 2024. “It is a matter of immense pride for me to be amongst the elite NCC cadets who are the future of our nation. I am highly impressed by your impeccable turnout, crisp movements, and high standard of parade,” the Chief Minister stated.
The Delhi Chief Minister expressed, “The NCC extends you all a great opportunity to imbibe qualities of discipline, spirit of adventure and service to the nation. Our country with its diverse culture, different languages and religions is an outstanding example of ‘Unity in Diversity’. NCC with its motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’ has been instrumental in strengthening these patriotic and secular values of ours which are enshrined in the constitution. The NCC has played a pivotal role in moulding the youth of the nation into energetic, enterprising and responsible citizens.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that he is aware of the various camps attended by the NCC cadets like ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, ‘Special National Integration Camps’ and Independence Day Camp which intend to inculcate and ingrain the spirit of oneness between cadets, who come from different states and belong to different religions and cultures. Besides this, cadets also undergo service-specific training through Thal Sena, Nau Sena and Vayu Sena Camps. The training in NCC is aimed at the all-round development of cadets, in sync with the challenges of current times. Adventure and sports activities form an inseparable part of NCC training. NCC teams have been taking part in various sports tournaments like the Jawahar Lal Nehru Hockey tournament, Subroto Cup, All India Yachting Regatta and All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship.
“The NCC also extends an opportunity to the selected cadets for foreign exposure through Youth Exchange Program (YEP) with various countries. These interactions not only provide a chance to learn from the culture and traditions of host countries, but they also give you an opportunity to be the ambassador of Bharat showcasing our rich cultural heritage and unique value system,” the Chief Minister said.
The CM shared that the NCC cadets have contributed immensely to spread awareness about social causes like ‘Nasha Mukti’, ‘Save Earth’, ‘Swachh Bharat’, ‘Save Girl Child’, ‘Save environment’, ‘Anti Dowry’ etc the list is endless. There is no social cause or awareness campaign in which NCC has not left an indelible mark. “I want to congratulate each one of you and your trainers for your selfless service to society. With your zeal and enthusiasm, you will become a role model for your fellow citizens and take the nation to greater heights,” he added.
He conveyed, “I have been told and it’s heartening to know that the NCC is planning to expand and enhance its reach to coastal areas, border regions and Left Wing extremist areas with an aim to transform the youth of these remote areas. I am sure that NCC with its training philosophy and pedagogy will be able to energize these youth and turn them into good citizens of the country who will contribute positively towards nation building.”
