Located in North-West Delhi, in the Kirari Assembly Constituency 4 new government schools will be provided by next January. On Sunday, Delhi’s CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal laid the foundation for 2 new school buildings in Pratap Vihar, Kirari. These school buildings will operate in two shifts, accommodating around 10,000 children with over 100 excellent classrooms, laboratories, libraries, activity rooms, lifts, and other modern facilities.
During this CM Kejriwal highlighted the need for more schools in certain areas of the national capital to ensure quality education is easily accessible for every child near their homes. The CM mentioned his pledge to provide the same quality of education that the country has provided to him and his children should be accessible to every child in the country. “I will continue working towards this goal. Hence, our government has been allocating 40% of the budget for education and health over the past nine years, while the central government spends only 4% on the same for the entire nation,” the CM said.
On this occasion, Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi, along with local MLA Rituraj Jha and other dignitaries, were also present.
In the Rohini Sector 41 area of the Kirari assembly constituency in North-West Delhi, the Delhi government is constructing two world-class schools. These schools will benefit children residing in densely populated areas around them. After laying the foundation with all due rituals, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal inspected the model, which will provide international-level facilities to students. Following this, school children presented a welcome song, extending greetings to the CM and offering a token of appreciation. The two schools will be built on separate plots, each featuring more than 100 outstanding classrooms, high-tech laboratories, enriched libraries, office staff rooms, activity rooms, toilet blocks, and lift facilities. Additionally, a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 300 people and air-conditioning will be constructed in one of the school buildings.
On this occasion, Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated that there was a time in Delhi when the condition of government schools was in shambles, and economically disadvantaged families were compelled to send their children to government schools out of necessity. They couldn’t afford the high fees of private schools, which often charged arbitrary amounts. Therefore, poor people couldn’t send their children to private schools. “At that time, there was no hope for poor families sending their children to government schools that their kids would succeed academically because the quality of education in government schools was practically non-existent. Today, there is a massive crowd gathered for the inauguration of 4 government schools. This implies that people now have hope that our children will receive a good education, and this is the most satisfying thing for me,” he added.
“A poor person had lost hope that his children could receive a good education. People like rickshaw pullers, daily wage workers, farmers, plumbers, and electricians had given up hope that their children could receive a good education and become doctors or engineers. Today, the hope within poor people has been reinstated, that now their children can have a bright future too. This is the most significant thing for me. In the past, if a neighbor’s child went to a private school, a child studying in a government school used to feel inferior while interacting with the one from the private school. However, today, when children from private and government schools meet, the government school child confidently communicates, dispelling the notion of being inferior. Confidence has now instilled in children attending government schools that they too study in good schools,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal mentioned that the government schools being built have splendid buildings. The buildings of our government schools are as magnificent as those of any private school. Our teachers are also excellent; there are no teachers as good as ours in any private school. The most significant thing is that today, the results of our government schools are also outstanding. Such remarkable results are not achieved even by some private schools. “I’m happy that four new schools are being inaugurated in the Kirari Assembly constituency today, providing education to around 10,000 children. These school buildings will be ready within a year. I’m confident that a year later, I will come once again to inaugurate them. Local MLA Rituraj Jha deserves credit for laying the foundation of these 4 new schools. This land belongs to the DDA, and acquiring it was not easy. The MLA took this land from the DDA and got the file cleared from the education department,” he added.
The Delhi Chief Minister shared, “Until now, there were 10 schools in the Kirari area. The conditions of all these 10 schools were very poor initially. Firstly, within 3 years, we have transformed these 10 schools into splendid ones. Additionally, we are now building 10 new schools. Out of these, 4 new schools will be established here, where 10,000 children will study. After this, there will be a total of 20 government schools in the Kirari Assembly constituency. Following this, children living here will not face any education-related problems. They will receive excellent education, and there will be no need to go far for it.”
“We have mapped out schools across Delhi. While we have improved government schools, there are still many areas in Delhi where there is a lack of schools. Some places have an excess of schools. But in some areas, there is a shortage of schools. A complete list has been made of these areas, and new schools are being built there, ensuring that education is available near the homes of children from poor families,” he added.
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated that these school buildings will have excellent laboratories for children. Whether you go to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, or any other state in the country, you will not find facilities like laboratories, auditoriums, libraries, staff rooms, and activity rooms in government schools. However, today, children in Delhi’s government schools are being provided with all these facilities.
The Delhi CM further added, “The dream of providing such excellent facilities in our government schools became possible because the Delhi government spends a significant budget on education and health. A few days ago, the central government presented the budget for the entire country. The central government is spending only 4% of the budget on education and health for the entire country. In contrast, the Delhi government has been allocating 40% of its budget to schools and hospitals every year for the past 8 years. If you don’t spend money, how will schools be improved? They won’t improve on their own. For this, money has to be spent. We spend 40% on education and health, while the central government spends only 4%.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal conveyed, “I consider the 2 crore people of Delhi as my family. I regard your children as my own. I’ve been blessed with everything in life by God. My children received a good education. I have pledged that the kind of education my country has given to my children and me, every child in this country should receive such a good education. For this, I will continue to work. We take care of our family. No matter how poor someone is in the family, even the poorest person wants to provide a good upbringing for their children. Whether they get a full meal or not, children should have wholesome food, including bread, milk, fruits, and vegetables. Most importantly, children should receive a good education. Even the poorest person thinks that, while it might be okay for a time to have less food, children should receive a good education. Every person wants to give their children a good education first and foremost.
“We have adopted this perspective in the Delhi government as well, that we will build fewer roads, but first, we will arrange for good education for the children of Delhi. In a family, just as we prioritize providing a good education for our children, we think that regardless of what we receive or don’t receive in life, whether God has given it or not, our children should grow up and become successful. Similarly, I also think that the 2 crore people of Delhi, who are like my family, their children should receive a good education and have a bright future,” he added.
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated that besides education, if someone falls ill at home, they should receive good treatment. If someone falls ill, we try our best to take them to the best hospitals so that they can receive good treatment. Whether it requires selling land or jewelry or taking a loan, efforts are made to provide good medical care. Good healthcare facilities are a priority for every individual. “I also thought that arranging good education for children in Delhi is essential, and if anyone falls ill in Delhi, there should be no financial barrier to their treatment. We have established Mohalla Clinics across Delhi. Initially, there were no Mohalla Clinics, but today, there are 20 Mohalla Clinics in Kirari. These clinics provide excellent services, offering free medicines, tests, treatments, and doctors. Treatment is provided free of cost in all 35 government hospitals in Delhi. These hospitals are equipped with fantastic facilities. We have transformed government hospitals and made treatment free for everyone,” the CM concluded.
While addressing the people of Kirari, Education Minister Atishi said, “I am happy to share that today we are here to lay the foundation not only for one but four schools. Two school buildings being built here on two separate plots will house four schools in them. As many as 10,000 students will be able to study here from the next session in April 2025. I congratulate all the residents of the area for these schools.”
She added, “I am confident that at the speed with which the Directorate of Education and PWD is working under the guidance of CM Arvind Kejriwal, next year we will be inaugurating these schools together at the same place. Soon our children will begin their learning journey in these schools.”
Ms. Atishi added that the government is going to build two magnificent schools here. Both schools will have more than 70 rooms with the best facilities for students. There will be a place for sports, science labs, and a fully air-conditioned auditorium to celebrate annual events. “I am confident that the schools we are going to build here will surpass all private schools in the area,” she added.
The Education Minister said, “Not only has Kirari constituency witnessed a major transformation in schools, but the education revolution in the whole of Delhi in the past 9 years has transformed the complete education system of the state. Every common man in Delhi knows that before 2015, Delhi government schools used to be in dilapidated condition. Toilets were smelly, students were forced to study amidst this foul smell in corridors, and teachers were put on various duties due to which they were not able to take classes. Nine years ago, these were the Delhi government schools. But then a miracle happened in 2015, and the people of Delhi chose Arvind Kejriwal as their Chief Minister.”
Earlier, everyone used to think that they should send their children to private schools because education was good there. But today it is the result of the Delhi Education Revolution of 9 years that, for the past 7 years, Delhi Government Schools have been showing better results than private schools. Earlier, people used to think that they would send their children to costly private schools and coaching and get them admitted to good colleges so that they could become engineers and doctors. But today, Delhi Government schools are completely transformed. More than 1000 students are getting admitted to IITs and top engineering colleges from Delhi Government Schools.
The Education Minister further said, “Today, a child from a poor family can not only dream but also turn their dream into reality. People come to Delhi from different parts of the country so that they can give a better future to their children. They work hard so that their children do not face hardships that their children have faced. But this is the luck of Delhiites that they have got a Chief Minister like Arvind Kejriwal who thinks about the future of children more than everyone. I am thankful to such a Chief Minister who thinks about providing a better future for every child.”
CM Kejriwal has given the people of Kirari Assembly everything they needed – MLA Rituraj Jha
Meanwhile, Kirari MLA Rituraj Jha stated that CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has done everything for the people of Kirari Assembly area that was needed. The CM ensured the supply of drinking water to every household in 85 colonies. He initiated the construction of roads and drains in 56 colonies. In our constituency, Mohalla Clinics have been established, providing free healthcare for every poor individual. The significant problem of sewage disposal has also been resolved. The CM is constructing Delhi’s largest sewage project in Kirari, covering 5,000 streets and roads simultaneously. Work on sewage systems in 3,000 streets and roads has been completed, and the remaining 2,000 will be finished in the next year. After this, no street will remain where work on roads, drains, and sewage has not been done. Additionally, Kirari Assembly area is getting Delhi’s most modern bus depot, which will be completed in the next 6 months. Afterwards, women living here will be able to travel across Delhi for free.
10 new government schools are being built in the Kirari Assembly, providing considerable convenience for children – Rituraj Jha
MLA Rituraj Jha emphasized the utmost importance of education. Baba Saheb Ambedkar said, “Education is the milk of the lioness; whoever drinks it will roar.” For all migrants, the value of education increases significantly. Many of us have settled here from distant places like Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. Despite facing financial challenges, we all want to educate our children. Before the Kejriwal government came to power, the condition of 10 government schools in Kirari was terrible. They lacked toilets, and the condition of classrooms was poor. However, all these schools have now been renovated. In these schools, 300 new rooms, multipurpose halls, and laboratories have been established. Alongside this, work is in progress for 10 new schools throughout Kirari. Two schools in Prem Nagar will be ready in the next 3 months. Currently, there is no school in Prem Nagar, and children have to travel to Mundka, Nangloi, and far-off areas for education. They have to cross railway lines, and accidents are not uncommon. However, after 3 months, when these 2 new schools are ready in Prem Nagar and inaugurated by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, the children of Prem Nagar will have school facilities right there. By November of this year, when these 4 schools are ready, admissions will be available for thousands of children in Kirari.
During the laying of foundation program of the schools, opposition party members engaged in slogan-shouting against CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. In response, the CM calmed them down. The CM expressed that wherever they go to inaugurate schools, hospitals, and Mohalla Clinics, members from the opposition party tend to protest. Addressing the opposition, the CM said, “Today is a significant day with the inauguration of four new schools, providing education for 10,000 children. I urge the opposition parties not to indulge in dirty politics at least on this auspicious occasion. If they have animosity towards him, they should refrain from harboring enmity towards the education of the children of the public. These schools are going to provide quality education to children, and inappropriate actions should be avoided on such occasions.”
Children will get schools in the neighborhood; people express gratitude to CM Arvind Kejriwal
The enthusiastic people of the area, energized by the foundation laying of two school buildings simultaneously, thanked CM Kejriwal with loud cheers of “Thank You Kejriwal”. 4 schools will operate in this complex. In the Kirari Assembly area, there are more than 16,000 children. There are 3 school buildings for them, which function in two shifts. This indicates that the number of schools in the area is not sufficient in proportion to the number of children. Additionally, other schools are quite far, posing difficulties for children to commute. Many children feel incapable of consistently attending school. Parents also feel insecure sending their children far away for education. Keeping this in mind, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal decided to construct these 2 new school buildings for the children of Kirari, ensuring that the schools are close to their homes, providing them with adequate facilities. These schools will be ready in the next year.
These schools will be completed by January next year
In Rohini Sector 41, on Plot Number 1 and Plot Number 2, both these new schools will be built. Each school will have a 3-storey building with a semi-permanent structure. The land was allocated to the Education Directorate by DDA in September 2022. Both school buildings will be completed by January 2025.
Facilities in both school buildings
These schools are being built on approximately one acre of land. There will be 76 rooms, including 54 classrooms. Each floor will have labs, a library, an office, a staff room, an activity room, a toilet block, and an elevator. Similarly, the second school building will be constructed in an area of about 1.5 acres. This building will have 72 rooms, including 50 classrooms. Additionally, each floor will have labs, a library, an office, a staff room, an activity room, a toilet block, and an elevator. A multi-purpose hall with a capacity for 300 people and air conditioning will also be built here.
Currently, more than 16,000 children are studying in the three school buildings in the area
In the Kirari area, 6 schools are currently operating in 3 buildings. Each building hosts schools running in double shifts. This includes the GGSSS and GBSSS in Nithari, accommodating 4,939 students. Nithari village has both GGSSS and GBSSS schools with an enrollment of 3,333 students. Meanwhile, in Nithari, SKV and SBV School have 8,084 students. Altogether, these six schools provide education to 16,356 children. At present, Nithari has only one boys’ school, GBS, offering education in the science stream.
The commencement of two new school buildings will reduce the burden on existing schools
The completion of the construction of these two school buildings will alleviate the burden on existing schools, and there will be an improvement in the student-to-classroom ratio. This will have an impact on areas like Prem Nagar and Nithari in North-West Delhi and directly benefit the children residing there. None of the current 6 schools have a multi-purpose hall. The operation of the new schools will address this gap since one of the new school buildings will have a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 300 people. This facility will serve as a better resource for all schools. Additionally, both school buildings will have advanced labs and library facilities, ensuring students in the vicinity receive world-class education.
