As per the Scheme, an individual can claim subsidy only on one e-rickshaw. No subsidy is permitted on subsequent purchase by the same individual. The subsidy is given by Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) from the Air Ambience Fund.

In the first phase, in February 2016, at Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi Government had granted subsidy of Rs. 15000/ each to 2850 e-rickshaw owners.

On Saturday, about 6000 e-rickshaw owners, whose particulars have been verified by Transport Department were granted subsidy of around Rs.15 crores. The amount of subsidy will be directly credited into the bank account of e-rickshaw owners shortly.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia congratulated the Chief Minister for extending the benefit of subsidy to the e-Rickshaw owners.  He further stated that e-Rickshaws not only help in controlling air pollution but have also proved to be a source of earning livelihood by the lower strata of the Society.

The Chief Minister announced that all those e-Rickshaw owners who submit necessary documents i.e. permanent driving licence, bank account details and cancelled cheque by 22nd July, 2017 with the respective MLOs, their subsidy will be credited in the bank account by 31st July, 2017.  Hon’ble Chief Minister also declared that those who cannot approach MLOs till 22ndJuly, 2017, may submit the requisite documents with their area MLAs as well.

He also clarified that the scheme is continuing and those applicants who are unable to submit the documents by 22nd July, 2017, may submit thereafter and the subsidy will be released accordingly.

The Chief Minister also hoped that on the lines of e-Rickshaw, Delhi will start switching to other types of e-Vehicles for improving air quality in future.

E-rickshaws have zero emissions.  They provides a green, clean and easy alternative to small vehicle. Subsidy to E-Rickshaw is of immense financial help to the weaker sections of society as well as leads to lowering of air pollution.
