Delhi Government, under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, conducted major revamp and beautification work in the old Delhi area. This includes a revamp of Ghalib’s Haveli to preserve its heritage. In a bid to ensure meticulous preparations for the upcoming G-20 event, Urban Development Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj and Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi spearheaded an extensive visit to the Chandni Chowk area. Shri Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Delhi Government and MCD are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a successful event.” Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi said, “Prominent markets of Delhi are the symbols of its cultural heritage. Foreign tourists will get well-verse with our heritage, culture, and history through G20 summit”
During the detailed inspection, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, took a firm stand to counter claims made by Delhi BJP. He categorically stated that the Delhi government had not received any financial help from the Centre for the beautification work for the G-20 summit, clarifying that no such request had been submitted either by the State government. He also added that development work in PWD and MCD regions are funded by the respective agencies. In light of the event’s stature and a representation of India’s prestige on the global stage, He emphasized, “We are committed to leaving no stone unturned in creating an exemplary impression.”
Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi expressed her unwavering confidence in the Municipal Corporation’s readiness to host the monumental event. Assuring that all necessary arrangements were being diligently undertaken, Dr. Oberoi underlined MCD’s dedication to serving the people and projecting a favorable image of the nation. She appealed to all political parties to transcend partisan politics and avoid indulging in petty gains. She asserted, “This is not merely a matter of political affiliations but a question of our country’s dignity in the eyes of esteemed international guests. Any lapses would be a collective stain on our nation.” During her inspection of the ongoing work at Ghalib’s Haveli, she reiterated her commitment to showcasing the rich heritage and culture of old Delhi through this and many other initiatives.
After Ghalib’s Haveli, Cabinet Minister Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj and Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi inspected the work done at Chandni Chowk. It had changed the have of the old market. Subsequently, they inspected the G-20 park in M Block, Greater Kailash. The park is decorated with colorful lights.
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj regarded the G-20 summit as an opportunity to enhance the city’s aesthetic and environmental standards. He told that CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has directed all departments for full-scale mobilization of civic agencies in anticipation of the event, and to ensure the beautification is all tourist places, emphasizing the city’s commitment to promoting cleanliness and sustainability. “However,” he added, “we must strike a balance between showcasing India’s rich cultural legacy and heritage and ensuring seamless traffic flow and security protocols for internal delegates.” He said that discussions on the same are one way.
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj and Mayor Dr. Oberoi inspected the dispensary’s facility in Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk. Shri Bhardwaj issued directives to the dispensary staff to ensure the efficient functioning of all amenities, serving the welfare of patients. Further, Mayor Dr. Oberoi and Minister and Shri Bhardwaj visited the mayor’s office space in Town Hall to oversee the ongoing renovation work, underscoring the city’s commitment to preserving its heritage and modernizing its infrastructure.
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj also directed the officials to supervise the work on daily basis and prepare a report for the same for evaluation. Shri Bhardwaj said that the Delhi government and MCD officials are dedicated to work for the people, towards providing the essential key services. They said that under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, we are working towards making Delhi clean and green.
